The next morning Jhonia woke up in an unfamiliar place, she lifted herself immediately from the bed she was on to see Nearce looking at her.

“How was your sleep?” He asked and she narrowed her eyes down at him, then she looked down at herself and noticed that she had changed!

“I’m your husband after all… No, I did not touch you sexually.” Nearce said and when Jhonia glanced back up at him, he cleared the air telling her he didn’t touch her like that.

“Where are we?” Jhonia asked him, finding her voice husky she held her throat and looked at Nearce… Suddenly, her memory rushed back to yesterday! And crying herself into sleep while Nearce silently held her!

“About yesterday? Can”

“Were you ever planning on telling me?” Nearce cut her off and asked her, he stared at her half risen off the bed.

“It was not your burden to bear. So no, I was not planning on telling you!” Jhonia responded to him as she was getting up.

She paid attention to her background sounds she realized she at a beach. She stood staring out through the glass window watching the ocean push up and rest back! Her mind rushed back to a promise her father never got to keep!

“Your back! Are you okay?” Her mother asked her father.

“Huh? Jhoni, how are you, my little angel?” Her father question then asks Jhonia.

“Dad, I’m 17th so I’m not a little angel anymore… Hehe! But dad can we go to the beach?” Jhonia said to her father, with giggles she asked her father.

“Oh, but I got you a phone isn’t that more fun?” Her father respond to her question with question.

“No dad, I don’t need a phone I don’t keep friends… They would only bully me anyway, so beach is so much fun!” Jhonia responded to him and told him what would happen then said to him.

“Okay, I promise on your 18th birthday, I will take you to the beach and you can have your first beer… How about it?” Her father said with a big smile he made her a promise after a moment he asked and Jhonia nodded in agreement. Present time

“I’m so sorry dad.” Jhonia mumbled as tears ran down her cheeks.

“Are you okay?” Nearce asked while looking at her.

“Thank you for bringing me here, I will clean up then we can take a walk down the beach together. Once again, thank you!” Jhonia said as she rush over to him, giving him a kiss on the cheek then rushed to the bathroom. She returned after some time.

“Nearce there is no clothes for me here, and if I remember correctly, we didn’t- You didn’t bring anything.” Jhonia said with just her head peeking out the door! Nearce chuckled.

“I bought these while you were sleeping. Hurry and eat I’m waiting by the car.” Nearce said picking a bag and bring it to her, then on his way out he told her. After some time Jhonia started getting dressed! However,

“They are… A bit tight does he not know my size? Of course, he doesn’t! What was I expecting? A business trip is business after all!” Jhonia said taking a moment and then she said as she came to realize that the dress clothing is tight! She questions herself and then says as she remembers why they’re there. “Today is dad’s birthday and instead of celebrating it, I’m on a business trip but I was upset with Kyhe, because he didn’t want to give me the day! Which reminds me, why did he?” Jhonia said speaking with herself about what she should be doing and what she’s doing. She then asked why he gave her the day. Nearce, took her about buying stuff such as. Clothes, Shoes, Jewelry, Purses and more, after having each meal of the day. Night fell and Nearce returned with Jhonia.

“What kind of business trip is this? Nearce, we have been travelling around all day, eating, shopping, and dining but not once did we meet with your clients.” Jhonia asked him and explained that they had been doing everything but meet his clients and asked him why.

“We will meet with them tonight, but I wanted you to move around a bit!” Nearce said to her.

“Hmm, how much of your mistress have you brought here? Since having only one puts you in trouble you have decided to change them very often, this time around. That was smart of you!” Jhonia asked him and he flinch, but she ignored him and continued to speak, telling he was smart for once.

“You be the first woman ever not even my mother, knows I come here!” Nearce said to her, as he was pulling up in front of the guest house.

“When do we meet with your clients?” Jhonia asked him as she was removing her seatbelt as Nearce parked the car.

“Go get ready, the faster you get ready the faster will meet with him!” Nearce said to Jhonia, before she got out of the car and went to the room.

“Was the beach that important to her? I thought it was the day that was important to her, or maybe it’s both!” Nearce asked himself as he was coming out of the car, he continued to speak as he went inside, Jhonia was taking a shower when a message came in on her phone. Nearce walked over and picked up the phone.

“Hey! It’s Kyhe. Sorry about not wanting to give the day. I heard it was your father’s birthday today! My condolences. See you on Monday, Secretary Smith.” Nearce read the message, as anger took him over, he squeezed onto her phone… Jhonia stepped out from the bathroom, with her hair soaking wet, wrapped in a bathrobe she stood drying her hair with a hand towel!

“Are you sleeping with him?” Nearce asked his voice was subtle outrage, Jhonia who is not only shocked but is suddenly concerned stared at him.

“What?” She asked him.

“Your boss, are you… sleeping with him?”

He said and started ask but went silent before he said it to her, Jhonia hand dropped from her hair and to her side with disappointment! Her wet hair tangling in her face with water dripping down on the robe.

“… Is that why? … Is that why you asked me here, so you can accuse me? On my father’s birthday.” She finds it difficult to speak at first, as she asked him, a lump appears in her throat so sudden, and then the tears. The feeling of not being able to breathe. She asked him and reminded him what day it was.

“On my father’s birthday. I dropped everything and came here with you, and all you had to do was to accuse me! How many have you slept with? When she realizes she is alone, and one car passing by now and then, no one was around only her on the sidewalk! She stopped and looked around hoping to see someone insight, however, not even Nearce.

“Does he even care?” She asked herself while looking down the part she walked from darkness in the night, now she realizes that she should have been paying attention to place but was so comfortable with the character Nearce played earlier she didn’t pay attention to her surroundings … She notice a payphone on the other side of the street as she was about to cross the road a car light stopped her! Jhonia quickly waved at the car until it stopped!

“Hi! I got lost could you help me with using that paid phone?”
