Chapter 747
“If you’ve got anything else to say, I’ll help you pass the message to Mr. Martin, ” said Paul.
Jenny didn’t go out to celebrate her birthday with her friends. She’d wasted her time waiting for Joe in the basement parking lot.
Paul couldn’t get a read on Jenny. She had no idea when to retreat. Was she not aware of her status now? She should’ve known when to keep her distance, even if they were siblings. Jenny was a smart woman; she should’ve known. Jenny was rather pale. She shook her head and said, “No need.”
She’d rejected many of her friends‘ invitations. Jenny only wanted time with Joe. In the end…
Paul felt speechless as he watched Jenny leave. He stepped forward, wanting to say something, but in the end, he believed that there was no need to do so. Jenny had to make sense of things on her own.
As he walked to his car and was about to open the door, he heard Jenny calling someone. She had greeted the person on the other end of the line Mrs. Martin, Who was she referring to? It couldn’t be Molly, couldn’t it?
Jenny probably knew about the relationship between Joe, Edwin, and Molly. They were almost enemies.
Jenny had no reason to contact Molly. Despite how misguided she was, she was an intelligent girl. Paul dismissed his thoughts, thinking that he likely had misheard. He then got into his car and drove away.
:
Skylar received a notification saying that she had a new follower.
Recently, a few elderly folks began trying to contact her. They got to know her through Alexander. Some of them wanted her to restore their antiques. She didn’t overthink it and approved the request.
Just as she was about to go to sleep, Janine called.
“Skye, I’ve been thinking about it. I need to tell you something. Sadie is in the
hospital now. She’s about to die. They couldn’t contact you, so they sought me out. Would you like to take a look?”
Skylar was silent for a moment before she asked, “Which hospital is she at?”
A few minutes later, Skylar got changed and went downstairs. She ran into Joe, who’d just arrived home.
“Are you going out?”
Skylar watched Joe, who was dressed in sports gear. Usually, he would be heading out for some exercise in this outfit. She explained, “Yeah, I’m heading to the hospital.”
Joe glanced at Skylar and walked toward the door. He asked, “Are you feeling sick? I’ll drive.”
“It’s not me. Sadie is in the hospital. I called to confirm what was going on. She probably wouldn’t survive past tonight,” said Skylar. There was no love lost -between them.
Seeing as Sadie had given birth to her, she would take a last look at her.
Joe nodded and put on his shoes. He said, “I’ll go with you.”
Skylar had been grabbing her bag. Her movements paused. She looked at Joe and said, “Peter and Samuel are there too. They’re no better than gangsters right now. Wait for me at home. Don’t let them affect your mood.”
Their eyes met.
Skylar looked over. She then walked over to the door.
However, Joe grabbed her wrist.
“I’ll go with you,” Joe stated firmly. He stared at Skylar.
He suspected that she was hiding from him. She didn’t want him in her life.
Skylar looked at him resignedly and said, “Fine, let’s go.”
They took Skylar’s new car. Joe drove.
After driving for a while, Joe asked, “Why did you buy a car suddenly? Isn’t there a car at home you like?” Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
