Chapter 406
Chapter 406
Rosetta shook her head violently. "No, no. That's not it…" Her throat was getting raspy from crying so much.
"Denial is useless." He looked at her coldly. "Don't even think I'll give you any more money. Josiah owes a lot of people money, and he still hasn't cleared them, has he? You and that b*stard kid of yours can go to hell with him."
"No, you can't do this, Luke!" Rosetta yelled as she shook her head. "Bobby's your brother. You can't just abandon him!"
"You call him my brother?" Lucian sneered. "A b*stard born by the animal who killed my father, and you call him my brother?" He stared at Rosetta, but there was only hatred in his eyes. "I have no brother nor mother. You are nothing but my father's murderers."
He looked at Rosetta and Josiah. "Just you wait," he hissed. "I'll make your lives a living hell, and it'll come real soon." The enmity and vitriol in his voice were almost palpable.
"No… No!" She wouldn't stop shaking her head. "You can't do this to me, Luke. I'm your mother! I gave birth to you! I'm your mother! You can't do this to me!"
To that, Lucian sneered, and he turned to the door without even saying a word. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
He finally had it after all these years. Rosetta only came back to him because Raphael took him in; because he was rich and powerful. All she wanted from him was money. If he hadn't been taken in and only lived with his uncle instead, he might have grown up into a useless piece of trash, and his mother wouldn't have come for him.
She refused custody of Lucian even when she was alone. Now that she had a new husband and her beloved son, there was no way she would afford him any love. It was a shame he couldn't get that into his head when he was sixteen. All she did was say something flattering, and he did whatever she asked him to. Like a possessed man, Lucian killed the man who loved him like a father. And all because of these animals.
Just the thought of his deceased foster parents made his heart scream in pain. He balled his fists and slowly approached the door.
Josiah and Rosetta killed Raphael.
If he hadn't fallen for their sweet talk, he wouldn't have tried to fight for the Owens' inheritance, and Raphael wouldn't have died. This is their fault. I'll make them pay. They will live the rest of their lives in hell.
He noticed a disturbance in the air just before he could leave. Alarm bells rang in his head, and he tilted his head to the side by instinct.
A vase zipped past his ear and smashed into his shoulders. A grunt escaped his lips as the vase shattered into pieces. Shards fell all around him, and when he looked back, he saw Josiah holding the top of the vase.
"What are you doing, Josiah?" Rosetta screamed.
Yet, Josiah didn't answer. Still holding the remainder of the vase, he dashed toward Lucian and tried to
stab him with it.
What does it look like I'm doing? I wanna kill him! He thinks I killed Raphael, and he won't believe me anymore now. He won't listen to me anymore, and I can't get any more money from him.
It was nearly time to pay off his debt, though. If he failed to make the payment, the debt collectors would hunt him down no matter where he went, and that life was something he refused to live again.
He wouldn't have Rosetta and Bobby be on the run with him either, so he had to kill Lucian.
Rosetta and Bobby were Lucian's only family. If he were to die, they would inherit all his wealth.
We will be rich. Even if I die, they can live in luxury. That's the only way out for them.
Even after he missed and Lucian was already turning back to face him, Josiah didn't stop. He held his weapon tightly and tried to stab Lucian's neck with it. All he wanted to do was kill Josiah. If he dies, my wife and son can live the best life this world has to offer!
It was a nice plan, but someone of his age couldn't keep up with a young and experienced fighter like Lucian.
Lucian slammed his foot on Josiah's wrist, and an audible crack rang out in the air. Then, Josiah screamed.
He staggered backward and fell down onto the ground of shards, and his screams turned into howls.
"Josiah? Josiah, are you alright?" Rosetta rushed to his side while wailing and kneeled to check on his
wound.
His right wrist was bent at an unnatural angle. It's broken. She gave Lucian a tearful look, demanding, "How could you do this to him? He's your stepfather!"
"You disgust me." He spared that woman a look of contempt. "What did you expect me to do? Stand there while he tries to kill me? And you and that b*stard son of yours can take everything I have after that?"
He sneered and made a call, which went through quickly. Coldly, he said, "I'm writing a will. If I die, then everything I have goes to Caitlin Owen."
The guy on the other side said something, to which he answered impatiently, "Yes, Caitlin Owen. Draft up a will for me. Once I get back, I'll sign it. Even if I were to die the next moment, the will is still effective. After my death, everything I own goes to Caitlin."
The guy on the other side said something again, but Lucian responded patiently this time, "Fine, I'll repeat myself. Get a few witnesses and record it well." He hung up and switched the call to a video call to repeat what he just said.
The pain was almost knocking Josiah old cold, but his frustration and anger kept him awake, telling his brain to stay up.
He shouted, "Don't do this, Luke. Your mother loves you. She's your mother, and Bobby's your brother. They're your only family in this world. You don't have to trust me. Heck, you don't even need to understand me, but you can't abandon them."
Once he was done recording the video, Lucian hung up and looked at him coldly. "What do you want me to do? Support their lifestyles and let you kill me so they can take everything I have?"
He chortled at himself. "I did something that stupid once, but I won't do it again. You tried to kill me for your wife and kid to take everything I have. It would have worked if you managed to take my life, but it's too bad that you failed. I've already written my will. If I die, everything I have goes to Caitlin. Your wife and kid won't even get a single penny."
