Her aunt’s friend
With Diana’s insistence, Melissa didn’t have a choice but to introduce Adam’s as the person who was hosting her.
“Oh wow is that him?” Seeing the man leaning on a limousine, Diana asked with a frown.
“Yes, that’s him. He works as a chauffeur.” Seeing Diana raise her eyebrows, Melissa had to explain so she didn’t think she was with a rich guy. Afraid of making her more suspicious.
“Oh I see, I thought your host was some old rich guy.” Diana scorned a sly smile on her face as they walked over to Adams.
“He’s my aunts old friend, guess he’s trying to impress me so I can put in a good word for him.” She hated the lie but she had to.
As they neared the car, Adams walked over to greet them. “Uncle Adams, thanks for coming to pick me up.”
“It’s no problem, I was dropping off a client not far from here. Who’s your friend?” Adams questioned following her lead.
“Oh, this is my friend Diana, the one I told you I was meeting today. We actually grew up together but lost contact when I left the city but we reconnected recently.”
“Nice to meet you young lady. My niece has told me so much about you.” Adams smiled at Diana offering her his hand.
“Pleasure is mine sir, and thank you for taking my friend in.” She smiled back at him shaking his hand.
Looking from the middle aged man to Melissa, Diana was at ease. She was worried Melissa would get in her way but seeing the man hosting her, she knew they were not wealthy enough and couldn’t afford to go after them. Even if Melissa got evidence against them she couldn’t stand a chance in Court, but deep down Diana was more determined to see her suffer.
“Melissa I have to go, it was nice meeting you today. We should do this more often.” She gave Melissa a hug then walked off to her car.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
When she got in the car she made a phone call to one of her men. “Couldn’t answer the phone earlier, what news do you have for me?” Listening to the person on the other side of the phone, her lips curved up as her eyes darkened looking at Melissa on the rearview mirror.
“Good, make sure to deliver on time.” Ending the call, she drove off to her work place.
“Where to ma’am?” Adams asked Melissa when they got in the limo.
“Back to the house please, and thank you for your help.”
“It’s nothing, I was just doing my job.”
“It was more than your job. Making her believe that your my aunt’s friend will keep her off my back for awhile. Thank you again.”
All the way back to the villa Melissa thought of what to do.
Meeting that man was her only chance to get evidence against her godfather but she missed him. Stuck by Diana’s side, he had left blowing off her chance to get back what rightfully belonged to her.
The other option was for her to get her father’s accountant and lawyer to produce all the financial documents but they all declined to meet with her.
Racking her brains more wondering how she would win over her wealthy canning godfather, Mark crossed her mind.
He was wealthy and powerful. Being associated with him would give her the same power. In order to get the justice she sought, Melissa had to ask for his help, beg if she had to. Though she was worried of how he would react to the news of her having his child and not telling him sooner, she had to tell him.
Probably use her having his child as a leverage.
She was not of the idea of using her baby mama card but she had to do all it took to have Mark’s support.
“Ma’am, Ma’am?” Stopping the car, Adams called, but Melissa was lost in her thoughts she didn’t realize when they got to the villa, but on the third call she came back to her sense’s.
“Oh sorry, I was preoccupied. Thank you again.” She smiled politely stepping out of the car heading to the house.
“Hi Mary, is the boss in?” She inquired meeting Mary in the living room as soon as she walked into the house.
“Oh Melissa, you are back, how was your day dear?” Mary inquired stopping to converse with her.
“It was great, I had a relaxing time.” She smiled, almost tapping her foot with her gaze darting up stairs to the office.
“Oh!” Noticing her restlessness, Mary smiled. “Mark is in the office, he asked for you to see him as soon as you got back.”
“Oh, okay. I’ll go see him now. Thank you Mary.” Going up the stairs to the office, she wondered what he had to talk to her about, and at the same time, how she would talk to him about the help she needed.
“What is up with those two, are they in a relationship or something?” Jane one of the employees asked turning to Mary.
They had worked in the villa for years and their boss had never brought home any woman, not even his so called fiancee.
“Jane don’t start gossiping, get back to work.” Mary firmly dismissed her, shutting her up.
Though she too had questions, she treated Mark like her own son and would not let anyone gossip about him.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to pry into the boss’s private affairs, but seriously he has never brought a woman home all these years I’ve been working here, and with the special treatment he requested for Melissa, he must have some interest in her.” Despite Mary’s warning, she went on looking for a good gossip to share with her friends.
“Keep that up and you will lose your job. You’re here to work not to stand around gossiping.” Warning her one last time, Mary went to the kitchen.
She was in charge of everything in the villa, and since Mark trusted her, she would fire any employee at will.
“Sorry, I didn’t say any thing.” Jane murmured getting on with her cleaning job choosing to mind her own business.
