Chapter 67 - Beating the Best
Chapter 67 - Beating the Best
Marco felt his heart drop when he saw Arthur surging ahead of Benno, leaving Benno far behind.
"What the hell is going on here?" he bellowed.
"Benno wouldn't have driven this poorly unless he was trying to betray me. I'm going to kill him for this!"
He leaped up, his fists balled, his face a mask of rage.
Adam appeared to be rooted in place, shaking his head in disbelief. "No, Marco," he said, his voice
filled with passion for the racing car sport he had idolized since he was young.
"I can really see that they are giving it their all."
Deep inside, Adam was trying to deny that Arthur drove like a pro or even more than that. He suddenly
trembled with panic and anger. Seeing the facts pointed out by Arthur, he felt an intense desire to
destroy him, feeling that he could not let Arthur soar higher and higher with all he had.
Arthur had suddenly displayed his unbelievable wealth, and now he was back to doing nonsense.
“How can he drive like that?” Adam exclaimed in disbelief. “I couldn't believe what I was seeing with my Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
own eyes.”
"But, Dad!" Marco exclaimed, looking at Adam in disbelief and shaking his head.
"This can't be right. You know Benno isn't just any racer - he's got national and even international
achievements! He can't possibly lose to just a stupid Arthur. This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever
heard. It's absolute nonsense. Something must be up. I'm sure Benno and Arthur have conspired
against me," he continued, his voice full of suspicion.
Marco was still struggling to come to terms with what was happening, especially since he had placed
such a large bet on the race.
"Fuck! Benno!!! If you lose to Arthur, I'll kill you!" he shouted, his face contorted with rage.
"I know, he is Arthur," Adam returned, his hands clenched and his teeth gritted. "But how could he
obtain this much resources and support? How could trash like Arthur have risen so quickly in such a
short amount of time? There must be someone backing him up for him to have achieved this level of
achievements."
Adam struggled to find a reasonable explanation for Arthur's sudden soar.
"Is it possible that Grandpa did it?" Marco pondered, a wild idea forming in his mind.
"Is it possible that Grandpa secretly provided resources and support for Arthur? Could it be that
Grandpa, out of guilt, has given Arthur some kind of treasure? I'm sure this must be Grandpa
interfering once again!"
Marco's anger rose as he thought of all the ways Arthur might try to bring him down. "I'll make sure
your life won't be peaceful, Arthur!" he declared.
Adam tried to ponder Marco's notion, but he suddenly felt shaken and scared. A wave of panic swept
over him when he realized his father was covertly backing Arthur.
"This can't be. We need to investigate this right away and get rid of Arthur at the source!" he exclaimed.
Benno, knowing that Arthur was increasingly leaving him behind, felt as if he were completely one with
the car. He was giving it the greatest concentration he had ever done before. He drove with great
precision, giving it his all.
Benno drove with great accuracy and skill, executing his steering with remarkable efficiency. However,
he was still unable to make up for the gap between himself and Arthur. He felt as if he was competing
against a professional racer far beyond his skill level; Arthur was like someone who had dedicated their
entire life to perfecting car driving and racing.
Benno felt a new energy surge within him, and he was suddenly filled with an enthusiasm he hadn't
experienced in a long time. Meeting Arthur had reignited the fire within him; the race ahead of him was
the most important one of his life. "This is it," he thought, "This is my moment."
"Make me your slave if need be, but you have to pass me first, Arthur!" Benno exclaimed with
enthusiasm. "I won't let you win easily!"
Arthur also had a cheerful expression on his face; he truly felt the exhilaration of being able to drive at
such a rapid speed, and, for some reason, he thought he could drive all day.
"Benno is certainly a worthy opponent," he declared.
The race took place several laps later with no change of position. Despite the fact that Benno made
several attempts to catch up with Arthur, he was still far behind. Arthur completed the 50 laps
flawlessly, granting him a decisive victory, leaving Benno far behind by two laps.
Benno exited the car, completely defeated by Arthur, who he had previously insulted as an amateur. In
fact, Arthur had demonstrated skills far superior to even the most experienced professionals.
As he walked towards Arthur, Benno felt his body become limp. "Who are you?" he asked, dropping to
his knees in disbelief.
He was convinced that Arthur had been sent from the gods with driving abilities that no one else could
match. He had done his utmost to catch up to Arthur, but he had failed.
“Forgive my arrogance,” he said, “you have made it clear that you cannot judge a person based on the
outside. I am willing to follow you forever. Anything you ask of me, I will do.”
After the victory, Arthur beamed with relief. He knew this was an experience he would never forget. He
walked over to Benno and gave him an affirming pat on the shoulder.
"Thank you for the fun car racing, Benno," he said. "I really enjoyed it, and I'm proud that I was able to
fight you. It was a great match."
At this, Benno broke out into tears. He was overwhelmed by the joy of having fought Arthur, even
though he had lost. It gave him a newfound purpose in life. Raising his face to look at Arthur, he spoke.
"Boss, I'd like to fight you again in the future. Until then, I'll work hard to be better."
"Sure!" Arthur nodded in agreement
