Chapter 90
Chapter 90
Bradon’s pov
My entire chest hurt and my head felt like it was about to c*ack, but it was their voices that were the
most aggravating. They sounded like kindergarteners yelling on the playground. It remained a mystery
as to why they just couldn’t get along. To get them to stop talking, I had to yell at them. Thalia tried to
swoon over me, but I shrugged her off. My beauty slumber was disrupted by her ranting and slaps.
When the doctor entered the room, he began collecting the ineffective samples and assessments. To
be honest, I felt even worse after I was linked up to the idiotic machine. It was like it was draining the
life out of me
Was it possible that she built a machine to kill me? Throughout history, women were known to be
skillful killers. The doctor kept asking questions and I nodded a yes or no to his questions. Thalia sat in
a corner, chewing her nails and fretting as if I were suffocating or dying.
“So am I dying?” I asked.
The doctor gave me a slight smile and I knew something was wrong. I just turned my head away with
disappointment. I guess hoping was too much for asking. He finished up and Thalia moved closer and
held my hand.
“Hello, I missed you,” she said.
“Well, I did not miss you,” I bluntly replied. “Why do you like abusing Nestor?”
She stared back at me disappointed “What? Are you supporting him, do you know what he did?” she
inquired.
I turned to face her, reminding her of whose idea it was in the first place for her to deliver at a hospital.
She only looked down in shame. “Listen, this is what you are going to do, you are going to apologise to
Nestor, prepare yourself, then go with him to the city,” I instructed.
Tears began rolling down her cheeks as If I had just turned down her proposal, or asked her to commit
murder. “But Brandon I’m not leaving you,” she replied.
“Is your machine movable?” I asked. She stopped with her fake tears and paused for a minute.
Probably wondering where I was going with the questions. “Yes, it is but.. ?”
“We will both move to the city for the sake of the baby, we will just have to tighten up with security,” I
suggested.
She stared at me confused, my suggestion was not bad. But if she was that obsessed with me then it
was better for the two of us to go together to the city for the sake of the baby.
“Brandon I do not think it is safe to move you, the machine has made you weak and Dr. Wilson has set
up a Lab here… we can’t take him away,” she replied and hesitated a bit. “The Machine is not giving us
the results we hoped for so we have continued looking for the cure,” she added. I only closed my eyes,
“So why am I plugged into it if it’s not working?” I asked.
“Well, in short, it is working like dialysis but unlike hemodialysis which is done four or three times a
week, the Fraser is done every four hours in a day,” she explained. “Plus you need a lot of blood
transfusion, that’s why you are weak.”
“So in short you are saying we are back to square one?”
“No no no, I didn’t mean it that way, the machine is keeping you alive and giving us time to find other
solutions. The time that you never had.”
I opened my eyes and stared at her for a while without saying a single word. To be honest I felt pathetic
but I did not want to ruin the mood. Going back in search of a cure only meant I was still dying. I did not
want to know how long I had, unlike last time. I asked her not to do any estimations, knowing always
made it more difficult for me.
“Is there any good news? Honestly, I can’t just be surrounded by bad news… it’s not like I’m cursed or
something,” I joked. She scratched her head like she was thinking or something. My house was
definitely short of good news or were we just attracted to s*it.
“Well, your revenge plotting finally destroyed both Josh and Victor. They are both on the run and have
left Gentex in ruins,” she said with a smile on her face.
“Ooh, I see,” I replied
“Is that all you are going to say? Maybe you need the details,” she stated and got on the bed, lying next
to me. She held my hand and began narrating the downfall of the Nelson’s. By the time she concluded,
I had my mouth wide open. I was shocked beyond belief and p*ssedat the same time.
How could I have missed the affair? I was supposed to have seen it. The clues were there, everything
was there but yet they played it so well. What p*ssed me the most was the fact that I had no video
recordings of the two f*cking. Such would have been valuable for further blackmail.
“So where is Jessica?” I asked.
“Hiding in the Nelson mansion, she only goes out to buy groceries and stuff,” Nestor replied and
handed me a flash. “This contains everything you need to know,” he added.
Thalia looked up at him p*ssed, I could only assume she was not given the flash or was not aware of it.
She only rolled her eyes and looked away.
“Oooh and Josh was spotted visiting his mother, I really thought he was going to kill himself or
something,” he added.
Thalia and I looked at each then turned to face him. Yes Josh killing himself would have been icing on
the cake but the suicide topic was very close to both our hearts and we both knew at what level of
worthlessness that one had to be to resort to suicide. Maybe we once wanted to drive Josh to that level
but then thinking about it brought some rather questions to ourselves.
Nestor realized the mistake and quickly apologized. The room became awkwardly silent before I spoke
first. “Did you pack everything?” I asked him.
“Yes, and we are ready to go,” he announced.
“No wait, we have still not made a decision,” Thalia interrupted.
“I will join you after I gather some strength, am sure you two can operate the machine?” I asked.
“Yes we can,” Nestor replied.
“But…?” Thalia tried to protest.
“Thalia please can you just for once not stress me!” I yelled at her.
“Im sorry,”
“I will join you,” I emphasized.
“I know, or maybe I can go tomorrow, it’s not like I will go into labor today,” she stated mockingly and
got off the bed. I stared at her, she was just too difficult to deal with sometimes. She announced she
was going to take a walk on the beach and walked out. Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Did she just walk out on me?” I asked Nestor who only smiled.
“Welcome back,” he said.
“Yeah to Thalia’s craziness.”
“Do not worry by tomorrow she will be in the city and I’m not bringing her back until she delivers,” he
promised.
“Are you two ever going to get along?” I asked.
“No, I think she hates me because I’m more loyal to you than her,” he replied.
I chuckled, a case of loyalty and jealousy, “How is Maggie?”
“She is fine, she actually keeps calling. She was expecting us to be in the city by noon. But tomorrow
will do, let us give Thalia time to think,” he replied and walked to the kitchen. I signed and stretched
myself, the painkillers the doctor had given me were kicking in and I relaxed myself. I noticed my leg
move as I stretched and stopped for a minute.
If I remembered correctly… I was bedridden before I got h*oked to the machine. I removed my covers
and tried lifting again, to my surprise the legs were moving. The machine was not a total failure, after
all, even my arms were moving around. Even though I had no energy, I could clearly see that I could
move around.
But I quickly put the covers back before anyone found me or I excited myself. If there was anything I
learned about my illness, it was that it liked playing games with me. Giving me false hope then crashing
me at the last minute like a bag of cornflakes.
Nestor walked back in with some soup and began feeding me. Unlike that pregnant woman who was
always slapping people, he knew how to take care of me. “Are you sure you are going to be alright by
joining us in the city? I think you should wait for us here.”
“Just give me my tablet and I will be fine,” I replied.
“People will find out about you in the city, this place provides privacy.”
“I’m just tired of the scent and scenery of this place,” I replied.
The door opened and Thalia walked in, she quickly grabbed the porridge away from Nestor without
asking and took over the feeding. The girl really grew some attitude while I was asleep. But somehow I
felt wanted, the two were fighting over me and it was somehow cute getting the attention.
“Fine I will go to the city with him, but you have to promise to be face timing me every minute. I want to
know everything,” she stated.
“No problem, can I also face time you during labor?” I asked with a grin.
“No! Why are you so sure I will be in labor soon?”
“Thalia your EDD is very near. I did the calculations and I had left Nestor with instructions,” I replied.
“When… is… my EDD?” she asked with embarrassment all over her face. I looked at her disappointed,
she had been putting my interests over her own child. What kind of a mother had no idea when she
was due? Was she even fit to be a mother? I began questioning myself. Maybe I had made a mistake
or something. I wanted to scold her but I played it cool on second thought.
It was my s*upid illness that stole all her time with the pregnancy. She probably never enjoyed her
pregnancy period. Did she even have a craving? Or a weird obsession? I had a lot of questions but I
kept them to myself.
“Three or five days,” I replied.
“But that’s too far, can’t I wait for two more days,” she cried out.
“No you can’t, the days might be more or less, and I’m joining you as soon as I regain my energy,” I
replied.
She kept quiet and continued feeding me until I told her to stop. After she was done, I got my tablet and
updated myself with Nestor’s Flash. Gentex was in crumbles and no investor was willing to take a risk
but Mandel, on the other hand, had all the money in the world. There was only one obstacle, the board
was in disagreement.
They all voted against Mandel taking over it, it was a liability they said, and a waste of money. With all
the bankruptcy, scandals, and debt, it was only going to drag Mandel down, they all said.
I bit my leap, they were all idiots, last time I checked they all wanted the shares but it looked like they
all changed their minds yesterday. Maybe they sent in an assessor or something. Well convincing them
was only going to cost me more money but going solo was going to make me richer or should I say
Thalia and her baby richer.
Then I remembered that the baby was without a name, I raised my eyebrows as I remembered the fact
that I had not named the baby yet. “S*it!” I said to myself.
“What?” Thalia asked.
“You have not given me water,” I lied.
“Ohhh im so sorry, I forgot,” she replied and ran to the kitchen. She walked back and handed me the
glass of water.
“Thank you fatty,” I replied and looked away.
“No, you did not just call me Fatty!”
“Thalia, I’m tired and need to rest,” I said as I handed her the glass. She looked like she was going to
hit me but closed her eyes and walked away.
