Chapter 182 Suicide Mission
If the pitch of the night was not enough, the darkness in my heart has just grown. Not only has the weather turned itself foul again, but we find ourselves in the depths between the dead. With feet that are drenched in mud and clothes sticking to our backs, one annoying woman complaining that she is getting wet, we are making our way, trying not to be seen. Yet, something tells me that our presence was known before we even brought the car to a halt. So venturing towards the spawn that our dear Bride of Hell has let loose, we all are playing this battle in our heads.
Now, it shall only be me and Jacob that will try to fend off the Vampires, for I have no idea what this woman’s intention is. What she is capable of doing, that I do not know, but I am sure she can use all that evil inside of her to bring these monsters down.
And down is what we all are doing at the very present, as each one of us takes shelter behind a tombstone. My question here is, whom are we fooling? Does this man not sense Lilith’s presence? Yet, she is very deceptive, and I think she is fully capable of casting her own spells. So why are we left to undo what she has started in the first place?
Answers, I do not have time for now.
From a distance, I can hear the rumble of Roberto’s voice as he tries to command Cassidy to be still. I know that the woman is putting up a great fight; she is as feisty as they come. It does settle the storm in my heart, for I know that she will not stop fighting till the end.
But the end is not even near yet, for next, we all huddle together behind a group of trees. And it is Dean that takes the lead, “Sam, the Wizard, and me will surround him from three sides; it will complete a circle and help us achieve a greater impact when we chant.” Then Dean looks at Lilith, “And what exactly are you going to contribute because I know you can do Black Magic, and I know that you can kill these Vampires.”
Now it is far too dark to see the expression in her eyes, but it is with a huff that she softly whispers, “Fine, I will get rid of these Vampires for you, but you know my cover would be blown.”
With utmost anger in my voice, I nearly rise to my feet, “I don’t care about your cover; this is your problem that you have brought to my city. You are on my territory now, so you know what, my dear Lilith, you will do as I say.”
Then there is a slight Victory in Dean’s voice, yet he continues calmly, “Then if Lilith will be doing her thing with the Vampires, Lucas, you and Jacob will have to come to help us.”
I only but shake my head in complete disbelief, “What do I know about casting or chanting or whatever it is that you do?”
“Just repeat what I say.”
“Perfect. Please tell me that you are going to speak English.”
Then for the first time in a rather long time, I hear as Alatar bursts out in laughter, “Do you really think it is that easy. Now you can come to stand with me, and the young boy can stand on the east.”
I watch as the horror grows in our Vampire Hunter’s eyes; he only nods and starts to mumble to himself.
Yes, this will be a suicide mission, yet nobody is dying today; well, I would not mind if it was Lilith and her pet, though I shall settle for just the Vampires.Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
So with a hundred million thoughts running through my mind of how much of a bad idea this is, Dean goes off to the south side, close to where Roberto is standing. Sam flanks off to the west, passing the back of an old tomb, making his way as close as he can be without Roberto seeing him. Jacob nearly falls flat in his face as his steps take him slowly to the east. Alatar and I remain at our position, making small steps closer and closer to where we need to be.
The air is thick, and there are the grotesque sounds of the Vampires that can be heard from afar. Lilith is standing by, waiting for a signal from Dean to go ahead and wipe the Vampires out. The rain has now started to pound down onto the marble that is surrounding us. This begs my biggest question if Roberto will be able to hear the chanting. It has to be now; there is no more time to waste, for much to my horror and those of the rest of us, we can see more Vampires appear from down the street.
In as little as one…two…three… Dean whistles for Lilith, yet there is nothing happening. She is not moving. She is not saying a single thing. Dean goes, and he whistles again…still nothing. The air is getting tense as we see those Vampires fast approaching. Yet, after a third attempt, Lilith has not done one single sweep.
Alatar looks at me in horror as he glances at Dean, “She cannot hear him.”
“Absolutely perfect.”
Lilith is standing on the edge of being overwhelmed by bloodlust Vampires, though she is not moving but a wink. So much to my own horror and a very split-second decision, I abandon Alatar’s side and rush over to where Lilith is now nervously started to pace up and down.
In as little as a few steps, I fling my body through mid-air and land in a loud thud at her feet, “Do it. Do it now.”
With that, I rush back to Alatar’s side, but I am sidetracked by a group of four Vampires coming towards me. The horror that I do not have my dagger on my side sends a complete chill down my spine. It seems that this one is going to have to be a battle of the hand.
There is a slight inch of a wicked smile that plays at the corner of my mouth; then I show for the first of the brave ones to come to me.
With one yank of the shoulders, I grab him by the hair and rip his head backward only but exposing the soft skin of his neck. It is in complete shock that I see the amount of fangs that have entered him. It seems like they have been feeding off each other. The thought brings a sickness to my stomach, but I either rip him to pieces or her rips me. With one flick of my head, I expose my razor-sharp teeth, and with as much as two deep slices, I rip out every attery that will make a difference if he stays alive or not.
From behind, there is the sound of another Vampire approaching me, in as little as three…two… I spin on my heels and reach the sharp nails of my claws out, with one smash into his chest; I rip his heart from his body. As he tumbles to the floor, the third comes towards me; he stumbles and falls with his face in the mud. With great ease, I grab a loose tombstone and drop it down on his body. As the final one looks at the perished bodies, he only but takes a giant leap and makes his way down into the darkness of the cemetery.
Well, he is Lilith’s problem now.
I soon return to Alatar’s side, that just shakes his head at me, “Did you have fun? Now can we start?
With confident steps and determination to save the love of my life, we begin…
And yes…it is not English…
