Chapter 160
Chapter 160
Who Elgin always loved was himself.
What a selfish man!
If Letitia hadn’t exposed the truth and kept Shela throwing her weight around, she might have been the one lying in a pool of blood, whipped within an inch of her life.
She won, and Shela lost without a chance of turning the tables now.
Victor’s crown, loser’s frown.
But, looking at it from another angle… Shela won, too. She managed to wreck Elgin and Letitia’s relationship, hid the truth about that night, lied through her teeth to everyone, and kept jabbing that Letitia was carrying a bastard child, pushing Elgin to get rid of the baby!
Under the moonlight, Elgin suddenly turned around, looked up, and locked eyes with the balcony.
Her eyes met with Elgin’s.
Letitia can’t hear the words that barely escape his lips, but she read them.
“Letty.”
Letty. He said it with such endearment.
Who was his Letty… He was her nemesis and her unforgivable foe for life!’
Letitia didn’t even look back as she walked into her room and shut the curtains.
She didn’t know how to face Elgin.
Hated him? Yes, she hated him.
Loved him?…Her heart skipped a beat once.
But Letitia would never admit it, much less let Elgin in on it!
Right now, she couldn’t reconcile the tender man from that night with the Elgin she knew.
How can he have two such extreme sides?
To keep Elgin from coming back to the room, Letitia locked the bedroom door from the inside. She couldn’t stand to see him, and there’s no way she could share a bed with him!
Tossing and turning, Letitia found it hard to sleep but eventually drifted off with exhaustion.
Her breathing steadied.
Outside the door.
“Open it,” Elgin commanded. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
The butler said in hesitation,, “…It’s locked from the inside, Mr. Ramirez.”
“Figure it out.”
The butler has no choice but to fumble with a bunch of keys, trying one after another until…
Click. The door opened.
Elgin slipped in, treading lightly.
The moonlight streamed in through the window, casting a gentle glow on her face.
He watched her quietly, yearning to touch her but fearing to wake her up, so he pulled back his hand.
If Leble woke up, she’d definitely kick him out, giving him the cold shoulder.
But for now, she’s sound asleep, and he could just sit by her side, watching her a little longer.
“That night, it really was you…I’m glad it was you.”
Fate had them intertwined from the start, yet so twisted.
The next day.
When Letitia woke up, it was already broad daylight.
She looked at herself in the mirror.
Worn out, puffy, especially around the eyes. Her double eyelids have turned into single ones. She seemed to have no ounce of vitality left.
After shedding so many tears and riding wave after wave of truth, how could she possibly look good?
So, she put on a bit of makeup.
After getting ready, Letitia stepped out of her room and walked straight into Elgin’s arms.
“… What are you doing standing outside my door so early?”
Letitia looked up annoyed, rubbing her nose.
“I was about to wake you up,” Elgin said. “Good timing, you just came out.”
“Thanks, but no need.” Letitia glared at him and headed downstairs.
Elgin didn’t say much, just following behind her leisurely.
He knew the rift between them was wide, which would take a lot of time and patience to mend.
He couldn’t rush these things.
For now, he’s content just being able to see her every day.
Letitia ignored him. She failed to figure out how to deal with Elgin… although, she just wanted to leave.
But he won’t let her go.
In the dining room, the table was laid with a lavish breakfast, with servants waiting quietly by the side.
“From now on… I’ll drive you to and from work,” Elgin said. “We’ve got plenty of cars at home.”
Letitia rejected him outright, “No need, I’ll take the bus.”
The butler coughed lightly on the side, feeling sorry for Mr. Ramirez getting dissed by his wife.
But Elgin seemed unfazed as if he’d accepted her answer.
After all, he couldn’t exactly tie Letitia to the car against her will.
Letitia thought the same, so after breakfast, she grabbed her bag and headed to the bus stop.
As she walked, something felt off.
Passersby kept giving her the once-over, then glancing behind her.
Letitia turned around and saw Elgin in a flashy and attention-grabbing red Ferrari, cruising casually about fifty
meters back.
She was gobsmacked.
Elgin sat in the driver’s seat, cruising along with one hand on the wheel, sunglasses on, as cool as a cucumber. “Nutcase.” Letitia muttered under her breath, quickening her pace to shake him off.
But no matter how fast she went, he matched her pace and he was determined to follow her all the way!
At the bus stop, Letitia buried her head in her phone,
A group of schoolgirls nearby whispered excitedly.
“Wow, he’s so cool and handsomel”
“Why does he keep looking this way?”
“Quick, quick, I need to snap this!”
“He’s smiling! Is he waiting for someone? That car is so cool!”
Letitia was speechless.
She fought the urge to look over at Elgin, focusing on her phone until her bus arrived.
She boarded and scanned her card,
The schoolgirls were even more thrilled, “That Ferrari’s still following us!”
“Yeah, right behind us.”
“Is he chasing his girlfriend? Did they have a fight?”
Letitia was speechless again.
Once she got off, she couldn’t help it anymore, stormed up to the Ferrari, and tapped on the window.
Elgin greeted her with a slight smile, “I knew you’d come to me.”
Letitia was lost at words.
“Get in,” he said. “It’s still a way to the company.”
“Aren’t you bored?” Letitia asked. “Elgin, do you have nothing better to do?”
“I’m just going to work like normal.”
Letitia glared at him, “Don’t you think I don’t know you’ve been following the bus the whole way.”
“Oh, you noticed.”
“Is this fun for you?”
Elgin removed his sunglasses and replied casually, “It’s alright. It’d be a lot more fun if you’d sit in my passenger seat though.”
Letitia, fuming, turned and walked away.
His voice followed her, “I’ll keep following until the day you’re willing to ride shotgun.”
Letitia didn’t look back.
Every day to and from work, a Ferrari stalked her….
It seemed like a kind of creeper!
Elgin was gearing up for the long haul!
When Letitia showed up at the office, Vidonia beelined to her desk, “Where were you yesterday? I looked everywhere but you were missing”
I took a trip to the sanatorium.”
“Did your mom wake up?”
“Not yet” Letitia replied, “But the doctor says she’s holding steady.”
Vidonia nodded, “That’s a relief. I was blowing up your phone and you never picked up, which had me worried
