Swept Into a Fairytale Marriage 57
Chapter 57 I’m Afraid I Might Kill You
Farrah had already gauged that Adrian wasn’t going to lose his temper that night. Her gaze softened as she looked at him. “Adrian, I’m your wife, your life partner, and someone you can trust.”
Adrian fell silent. Such words felt unfamiliar to him, but they stirred something deep within his heart.
She continued sincerely, “One day, I’ll also be the mother of your children. You said we wouldn’t divorce, and I want to live a happy life with you.”
Adrian remained silent. His eyes met hers, and there was a flicker of something in them. The gentle, wise, and resolute version of Farrah calmed the icy air surrounding Adrian.
Their gazes remained locked for what felt like an eternity as the night deepened.
Then, a message from Philip interrupted the moment. They were informed that Philip wanted to get on FaceTime.
“You should head to the master bedroom first. I’m not sure when Grandpa will call,” Adrian said. He was clearly concerned about his grandfather’s emotions.
Lately, they had been sleeping in separate rooms.
“Okay,” Farrah nodded. Despite him not fully opening up yet, she sensed that he had let his guard down just a little.
For Farrah, this was a good start.
An hour later, they still had not received a FaceTime request from Philip. Both had showered and were lying in bed, waiting.
“What’s your relationship with Mr. Lovelace?” Adrian finally voiced the question that had been bothering him all afternoon. He had looked into Farrah before, and nothing about this man had come up in her connections.
“His mother was seriously ill, and after searching for treatments without success, my mentor healed her,” she answered candidly with her hands behind her head as she lay beside him. “We’re not related by blood, but we’re close enough to it.”
That cleared things up for Adrian. He suddenly realized how little he really knew about the woman lying next to him. She had a mentor? Did she know medicine too?
So… was the medicine she was working on meant to treat his burns?
After a moment, he asked, “That medicine you’re making–is it some kind of experiment on me?” “What?” Farrah turned her head slightly, surprised by the question. “Are you afraid I’ll kill you and steal your fortune?”
Adrian glared at her. “You’re such a heartless woman. Why can’t you say anything nice?”
“Who are you calling heartless?” she shot back. Propping herself up on one elbow, she stuck her face close to his. “Stop making false accusations!”
Then, she launched into her defense, laying out the facts.
“Listen, I landed you a massive deal today, and I didn’t even ask for anything in return. You staying alive means you’ll keep earning money for both of us. If you die, who knows how much I’d actually get?”
Their eyes met, and they were just inches apart. Adrian listened to her rambling and found himself momentarily lost in her features. Her eyes, under the soft, warm glow. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
of the bedside lamp, were
particularly captivating.
Her dark hair fell over her shoulders, and her pink lips moved animatedly as she talked. Her face was flushed, the sight of her like this leaving him momentarily dazed.

“You really should thank me,” she added, squinting slightly for emphasis. “And I don’t mean just saying thank you‘ or casually asking, What do you want? How do you treat your big clients? Do you just leave them hanging with no action?”
Adrian furrowed his brows but didn’t respond.
Farrah half–sat up, looking down at his handsome face. The scent of her body soap filled the air around them.
There was something else in the air–a delicate, unspoken tension that was spreading between them… Just then, the FaceTime call interrupted their thoughts.
Adrian
grabbed his phone, and the two sat up properly on the bed, with their shoulders touching. Farrah rested her head lightly against his shoulder.
With a swipe of his fingers, Adrian answered the call, and Philip’s face appeared on the screen.
“Hi, Grandpa,” they both greeted.
Seeing the couple sitting in their casual pajamas, cozying up together on the bed, Philip’s smile warmed like a spring breeze. “Fay, Adrian, were you two getting ready for bed?”
“Oh no, not at all. We were just chatting,” Adrian replied with a soft smile.
Farrah beamed. “We were waiting for your call.”
“Tomorrow’s Friday. I just wanted to remind you both to come home for dinner, Philip said, looking pleased. ”
other reason for the call. It’s getting late, so I’ll let you two rest. Sleep well!”
