Skylar listened to Natalie as she watched the video. The short four–minute clip was incredibly precious to her–especially when Joe appeared on the screen–she couldn’t take her eyes off it. It felt like an eternity had passed.
But when she heard Joe say he didn’t recognize Natalie, the glimmer in her eyes instantly
dimmed.
Natalie noticed her reaction and said, “I’m not sure who that man is yet, but the woman called him ‘Ned‘. I think that’s part of his name. I was probably too excited and should’ve asked more questions to figure out who he really was.”
“It’s Joe,” Skylar responded firmly.
Before coming here, she had worried about Natalie mistaking someone else for Joe. But now, with the footage right in front of her, she was sure of it.
If the glimpse she caught earlier was just a fleeting profile, this video offered a full view of Joe. She was absolutely certain–this man was Joe.
Hearing Skylar’s firm tone, Natalie was momentarily speechless.
If this was Joe, Natalie wondered what he had been through over the past three years to vanish without a trace. After all, everyone had believed he was dead. 2
Anyway, looking back at everything now, none of it made any sense.
However, Natalie realized it wasn’t her place to crash the hope that had finally rekindled in Skylar. Whether or not the man was Joe didn’t even seem that important anymore.
After calming down, she considered the possibility that it could just be someone who looked eerily similar. It wouldn’t be the first time someone had an identical face.
“Natalie, the director’s calling for you,” someone shouted behind them.
Natalie turned and called back, “I’ll be right there.”
Then she looked at Skylar and said, “We’re filming through the night tonight. You should go home and get some rest. Don’t stress yourself over this right now.
“If it’s really Joe, he’s in Jipsburg now–he’s not going anywhere. Besides, it should be him coming to find you, not the other way around. So don’t overthink it. Take care of yourself first, or I’ll be worried.”
Seeing Natalie’s worried expression, Skylar had already calmed herself down. “I’m fine, don’t worry.”
Noticing that Skylar was emotionally stable and even managed to smile, Natalie finally relaxed and breathed a sigh of relief. “Alright, I’ll call you tomorrow.” Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Skylar watched as Natalie headed back into the café. Then she got into her car, started it, and drove back the way she came.
Back at the café, Natalie resumed filming her next scene. Her role was fairly minor, with only three or four lines in total.
However, her presence was essential for the scenes between the male and female leads. She couldn’t afford to miss it, so she returned to continue her role as a supporting character.
As she played her part, she found herself irresistibly drawn to Austin. It was like stepping back in time to a few years ago when she had spent hours on set watching him act.
No matter how many times she had seen him act, each scene still managed to astonish her. Tonight was no exception.
Even after a three–year break from acting, Austin’s return still marked him as a master in his craft, a figure admired by all. His acting skills were just as astonishing as ever.
The café scenes they were shooting mainly focused on the leads, discussing either work or romance. Both of them were lawyers, talking about cases while sipping coffee.
She could also see emotions reflected in each other’s eyes–feelings that were subtle and restrained. The emotional tension between the two characters was palpable, like an invisible thread pulling them closer together.
It was undeniable that the two actors before her were a powerful duo.
Just as she had suspected, the scene was set to take place around 7:30 pm. But by the time they wrapped up all the filming, it was already the next day.
