Revenge After rebirth (Mayra and Anderson)

Chapter 32

Isabel looked worried. "What? Did something happen to Mayra?"

Anderson was slightly gloomy, and his tone was low and cold. "Since she's not here, send someone to look for her. Do you really need me to tell you this?"

Sensing his anger, Shane dared not to neglect his order. "Yes, Mr. Barlow. I'll do that right now."

...

Mayra followed Gordon into Hall 3 in the cinema, carrying a large bucket of popcorn. They watched a foreign fantasy movie that lasted two and a half hours. She was unaware that Anderson was anxiously looking for her whereabouts.

Shane soon received news from the bodyguard and reported to Anderson. "They searched her home and the surrounding areas, but they couldn't find her. Someone noticed her going out with a boy."

Anderson's eyes were cold. "A boy?"

"Yes. I've sent the location to the bodyguards. They'll find her soon."

Isabel felt Anderson turn ice-cold. She had never seen him like this before. She wanted to speak but hesitated. Eventually, she decided to keep quiet.

Time passed at a snail's pace. An hour later, they had searched the entire area with no results. The school's parent-teacher meeting was about to end, and people began leaving one after another.

Anderson was running out of patience. The sky was dim, and the clouds were streaked golden, illuminating the entire street.

A security guard closed the gate. He walked over when he noticed someone still outside. He then tapped on the car door, prompting Shane to lower the window.

The security guard kindly reminded him, "Are you the parents of a student at Stuyvesant High? Everyone has left. You should return!"

Shane raised the car window back up and looked in the rearview mirror at Anderson, who had his eyes closed. "Mr. Barlow, the meeting has ended. We've been waiting for over three hours. Maybe Ms. Sadler was having fun and lost track of time. She might have gone back."

"Having fun? Have you found her?" Shane could tell Anderson was angry, even though he spoke calmly.

He could also see that Isabel was losing her patience. She said, "Andy, let's go back. Mayra will be fine. I feel a little uncomfortable in my chest."

After leaving the cinema, Mayra went shopping with Gordon.

For her birthday, that low-EQ boy surprised her by giving her college entrance examination simulation test papers, a set of Level 4 Eldorish test papers, and Math Olympiad test papers.

She was so stunned she almost screamed. "Gordon, I have no grudge against you. Are you trying to kill me? How could anyone give this as a birthday gift?"

As loud noises were not allowed in the bookstore, Gordon brought her to a secluded spot and whispered, "The questions aren't difficult. I have enough patience to teach you."

She clutched his hand and stared at him intently. "Gordon, you're so heartless to torture me in different ways. Will you have high expectations of your wife if you marry and have children?"

Gordon detected an unusual distance between them. He stepped back and looked away awkwardly. "Don't think about useless things. It's still too early for that. Get your stuff. I'll take you to pay."

Mayra stuck out her tongue at him. Then, she noticed a book titled "320 Ways to Improve a Man's EQ" on a nearby bookshelf.

He paid for the test papers while she took out her exquisite pearl wallet. It was full of pocket money that Anderson had given her before, including several hundred-dollar notes, but she was reluctant to spend them. Moreover, she had nothing to buy.

"I'll accept your gift. But, regardless of its usefulness, you must read this book carefully. I'll get it for you."

The salesperson overheard their conversation and found it funny. "Miss, you're good at choosing books for your boyfriend. It's the best-selling book at our store. I heard that several people were successful in pursuing their girlfriends after reading it."

Mayra replied, "Then this book is indeed suitable for him."Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
