Chapter 76
"By the way, Amanda went abroad," Eva reported.
"When?" Sabrina asked.
"A week ago. She hasn't come back yet," Eva replied.
Sabrina felt something was off.
She called Sebastian and learned that all of Amanda's business matters were being handled by her business partner.
In addition, Amanada's phone was still reachable two days ago, but nobody was answering it today.
"It's fine. Let's not worry about her for now," Sabrina said.
"But… that means our lead on the culprit is temporarily cut off," Eva said.
She was uneasy that they still hadn't found the person behind the drugging incident.
Sabrina tilted her head and smiled at her. "Nothing has happened to me all these years, right? Don't worry, I'll be careful in the future."
The mention of the drugging incident still made Eva anxious. "Thank goodness you ran into Mr. Cromwell that day. Otherwise, how could a girl like you survive such an ordeal?"
Her throat tightened. "Yes, it was very fortunate."
Eva admired Sabrina's positive attitude. But it also pained her that she was working hard alone without anyone to protect her.
The next day, Sabrina returned to the company after running some errands.
Eva greeted her with a serious expression. "Not only have all leads been cut off, but even the waiter we previously found to testify called to say they can't help us anymore."
Sabrina wasn't stupid. She knew someone was purposely protecting the culprit.
When she returned to her office, she sat on her swivel chair and spun around twice before calling Nelson.
He answered quickly.
But before she could speak, she heard a woman's voice.
Sabrina froze for a moment. "Sorry to bother you."
"Are you back?" Nelson asked. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
His voice was very calm, which surprised her.
"Uh… why don't you continue with what you're doing first?" Her train of thought was abruptly disrupted.
"What nonsense are you thinking about?" His deep voice came again, and Pamela's voice seemed to fade into the background.
She couldn't figure out what they were doing.
As she was distracted, she heard him say, "If anything, it should be with you."
Sabrina gave a flat "oh" before asking, "Do you have time tonight? Let's have dinner together."
Her sudden invitation caught Nelson off guard. "Is this a business matter or personal matter?"
"Personal," she replied.
"Do you want to eat out or at home?" Nelson asked again.
"Out. I've made a reservation. I'll send you the details later," Sabrina said.
…
Nelson went to the location after he got off work.
He parked his car in front of the club but didn't get out immediately.
This was the club where Sabrina had almost been harmed after being drugged.
He called Dylan and confirmed that no one knew about it, which eased Nelson's mind a bit.
When he entered the private room, Sabrina was already there.
She was looking at her phone.
When she heard his voice, she looked up and smiled at him.
She was smiling brightly. Her eyes were clear and filled with a hint of seductive charm.
Nelson took off his coat and walked to her side.
He placed his hands on either side of her as he leaned down to talk to her. "I thought you'd be away for a few more days."
His posture was very intimate. His charming face was so close to her that if she moved slightly, he could kiss her.
Sabrina gazed into his eyes without saying anything.
When he leaned in to kiss her, she dodged away. "Let's eat first. I ordered all your favorite dishes. The food here is really good."
He glanced at the table and saw that all of his favorite dishes were there.
He was immensely pleased by this.
It felt as if they had gone back to how things were a while ago.
But now, he felt happy, instead of feeling annoyed as he used to. "Why are you being so good today?"
