Chapter 51
Nelson strolled across the yellowed turf with his golf club in hand.
The temperature in Slitton hovered just above freezing, and it was expected to dip below 30 degrees Fahrenheit in a couple of days. Capstone Golf Club had already closed its doors.
Nelson's intentions were evident when he drove up in that car.
Recently, Gerald worked diligently at the office during the day and steered clear of the nightlife. He had not even visited any clubs. It was said that he had been reading and studying, utilizing every spare moment.
As for the matter concerning Sabrina's husband, Nelson had notified all of Gerald's sources beforehand.
Despite not finding any valuable information, Gerald did not ask Nelson or Ronaldo, fearing he would inconvenience them.
Gerald was two years younger than them. He often trailed behind them when they were young. Although Nelson had attempted to scare him off with stones, he remained their shadow, always smiling at them.
As things had reached this point, Justin could not bear it any longer and asked, "Must it be this way?"
Nelson had no intention of publicizing his relationship with Sabrina. After all, he was uncertain about their future. Hence, it would be best if their marriage remained known to as few people as possible.
Gerald had promised not to meet Sabrina. At first, Nelson thought Gerald would eventually forget about her. Even if Gerald were to discover one day that her husband was him, it would not bother him.
However, Gerald was still head over heels for Sabrina and did so much for her from the shadows. Hence, Nelson decided to confront him head-on, dashing any hope he harbored.
When Gerald pulled up at Capstone Golf Club, he noticed only a handful of cars were in the vast parking lot. Even the most clueless person could tell he had been deliberately lured there.
As he sat in his car, he no longer felt the excitement from earlier. On the way there, Gerald had rehearsed how he would face Sabrina's husband.
He knew he needed to remain composed. Gerald was also determined to comply with the man's demands as long as he agreed to a divorce.
But now, Gerald was feeling timid. He thought waiting for Sabrina to be divorced would be fine, too. No matter how many years it took, he was determined to wait for her.
With that thought in mind, he started the car.
However, Gerald slammed the brakes as he was about to leave the parking lot. He wondered how he could stand to call himself a man if he left Sabrina to face everything alone.
Thus, he strode through the golf club's lavishly decorated lobby to the back hills.
Initially surrounded by mountains and lush greenery, the golf course now appeared somewhat bleak in the winter. There were only a few individuals on the course.
As Gerald approached, he recognized the silhouette of those few people.
He observed Nelson in gray trousers and a matching shirt, who appeared to have just started his game. He also sported a light beige down vest. He didn't wear a cap, his handsome face radiant under the sunlight.
When Nelson saw Gerald, he swung his club and hit the golf ball before saying, "You're here."
"Why?" Gerald asked.
"To dash your hopes. You should go abroad."
Gerald pressed on, "You prevented me from finding out before, so what's the reason for luring me here now?" Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
"It's annoying to see you two still tangled up."
Having said that, Nelson carried his golf club and was about to move forward.
Suddenly, Gerald grabbed him.
"Annoying? You act like you care a lot about her. Aren't you ashamed? You don't even love her!"
"It's true that I don't love her. Even if it's just for her body, she's still my wife!"
"Then what do you take her for?" Gerald questioned as he grabbed Nelson's collar.
Nelson lowered his gaze and replied coldly, "Gerald, you have more experience with women than I do, right? So, what do you think I consider her to be?"
Gerald's eyes reddened with emotion. Nelson was toying with Sabrina's feelings. He hadn't divorced her yet simply because he hadn't had enough fun.
Gerald tightened his grip on Nelson's collar. A second later, he raised his fist and punched the latter.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo and Justin feigned ignorance. They deliberately kept a distance from the two men.
