Chapter 170 Fighting with Villains, Endless Troubles
After listening to everything, Freya seemed tense. The Marshalls and Porters were family friends, so she knew a little about the past.
The Porters wouldn’t be where they were today without the Marshalls‘ help.
The current chairman of the Porter Group used to smile flatteringly whenever he saw Noah.
“Granny, the Kaufmanns won’t just sit back and watch the Marshalls fall.” Braxton gritted his teeth. “Let’s see if we can resolve this issue smoothly. Even in the worst case scenario, the Kaufmann Group will stand with the Marshall Group.”

Then, Braxton took out his phone. “I’ll ask Ayden to calculate how much money the Kaufmann Group can use right now and transfer it all to the Marshall Group’s account.”
When Sarah heard that, she chuckled. “We’re not at that point yet. The Marshall family has stood tall in Vroria for so long. Your uncle is not someone to be trifled with. He trusted the Porters before, but now, I believe he can handle this situation.”
Once she spoke till the end, her gaze became determined.
She believed in her son.
However, Freya couldn’t help but feel worried. According to her grandmother, the chairman of the Porter Group was unscrupulous and without any sense of morality.
He was capable of causing accidents that would harm workers just so that he could bring the Marshall family down. Such ruthless villains were the most terrifying.
But Freya didn’t say anything more to prevent her grandmother from worrying.
That evening, Noah returned with a heavy expression on his face.
Ashley followed beside him. Her beautiful face filled with worry.
The Marshalls were waiting in the living room, and Sylvia immediately sprang to her feet when she saw Noah had returned.
“Noah, how did it go?”
Noah sat on the sofa and explained in a low voice, “One of the workers working on the road fell and died.”
Sarah was furious. “Do the Porters even value human life?”
With a heavy expression, Ashley sat on the sofa. “Our safety measures are even stricter than what the authorities require. The workers building the road had complete protective gear. When Ryan and I examined the equipment taken from the worker’s body, we found three different protective ropes that had been cut and glued back together. Glue can’t bear much weight, so it can’t hold for long.” Her eyes filled with tears. “It was intentional. We reported it to the police, but since the incident happened on our construction site, we still have to call the construction work to a stop.”
When Sarah heard that, she frowned. “Did the police tell us to stop?”
Noah rubbed his temples. “Mom, the police didn’t tell us to stop. I made the decision. If the Porters continue their actions, who knows how many more innocent lives will be lost?”
The living room fell into silence.
Freya clenched her hands. This was what she was worried about.
Fighting with villains would lead to endless troubles.
Villains didn’t care about involving innocent people. The ones who suffered the most were often the ones with a conscience. Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
She pursed her lips and thought for a moment. “Uncle Noah, we need to find a way to deal with the Porters in order to end this.”
Noah sneered. “Ernie Porter isn’t even answering my calls now. Even if I wanted to find him, I doubt I could get into the Porter Residence!”
The atmosphere in the living room became heavy. Seeing this, Ashley forced–a smile.
“Mom, it’s late. You should rest. When there’s a will, there will always be a way. Tomorrow is your seventieth birthday celebration, so don’t think about these troublesome matters. Enjoy your celebration!”
Sylvia offered, “Mom, let me help you back to your room.”
Sitting around was not the solution either, so Sylvia helped the worried Sarah back to her bedroom.
Noah remained in the living room and took out a cigarette, but then he glanced at Freya’s belly and returned the cigarette box back to his pocket.
“Freya, Braxton, you should go back to your rooms and rest,” Noah urged with a smile. “This isn’t a big deal. I will resolve it soon, so don’t worry.”
But Braxton furrowed his brows. “Uncle Noah, how much did you invest in that piece of land?”
Noah pursed his lips, and after a while, he held up a few fingers. Three hundred.”
Three hundred billion!
Freya sighed deeply in her heart. Her uncle must have acquired that piece of land and the surrounding
mountains.
Wait, mountains?
An idea instantly flashed across her mind.
At the Vroria Airport that night.
The appearance of the two men attracted the attention of the people around them.
Chris looked dejected, while Radley looked to be in high spirits. Chris gritted his teeth. He is such a good friend!
Radley came to Vroria to attend Sarah’s birthday celebration, but in order to get an invitation from the Marshalls, he brought Chris along.
“I just escaped from home last time. I never expected the one who captured me and brought me back
would not be my grandfather but the person I trusted the most!” Chris gritted his teeth as he was sorrowful and angry.
Radley stood upright and spoke coldly. “You sound like a resentful woman.”
Immediately raising an eyebrow, Chris retorted, “Radley, do you have no conscience? I risked my life for you!”
As soon as the two of them walked out of the airport and got into the car, Chris saw another person walking out of the airport.
He raised his eyebrow again. “Hey, why is my rumored girlfriend here in Vroria too?”
Radley looked outside and saw Isabella standing not far away, making a phone call while frowning.
Chris laughed. “When I came back to Vroria last time, Freya requested that I pretend to be in a relationship with Isabella. Should we bring her along?”
“It’s up to you.” Radley’s attitude was indifferent.
After rolling down the window, Radley called out to Isabella in the distance, “Miss Parker!”
Isabella was asking the driver why he hadn’t arrived yet when she saw Chris. Then, she hurriedly ran over as if she had seen a savior.
“Mr. Holland, are you going back to the Holland Residence? Can you give me a ride?”
“With pleasure,” Chris said with a smile.
Radley, who was sitting in the front seat, narrowed his eyes. Freya had no idea he had come to Vroria.
If Isabella found out he was here, Freya might realize his intentions. If the Holland family didn’t receive an invitation to the banquet…
“Drive,” Radley commanded coldly..
The driver stepped on the gas pedal.
Isabella ran toward the car but watched as it suddenly drove away.
Her eyes widened, and two seconds later, she angrily yelled, “Chris Holland, how dare you play me!”
Meanwhile, Chris innocently turned his head and looked at Radley. “D*mn it, you tricked me again?!”
The next day.
The Marshall Residence was decorated nicely. The birthday celebration began with welcoming their guests early in the morning. The main event would be held at noon, and there would be a party for the younger generation in the courtyard that night, while the main hall would be used for dinner.
Ashley was determined to make all the guests happy.
Freya woke up early and changed into a red dress. Then, she ran happily to wish Sarah a happy birthday.
On the other hand, Braxton also dressed festively today.
When the two of them arrived on the first floor of the main hall, all the Marshalls‘ relatives were already gathered there.
Ryan and Melissa had also returned. They should have arrived early in the morning, as they had already changed their clothes.
The scene was lively with all the people. Being a part of the younger generation of the Marshalls, Ryan and Melissa stood by Sarah’s side.
In the meantime, Noah and Melissa went to greet the guests, while Freya and Braxton went forward to offer their birthday wishes. Freya also brought a gift she had prepared–a beautiful jade ornament.
That was a gift she gave on behalf of the Kaufmanns, but it was just a formality.
She had brought many things with her, including the herbal–sachets she had prepared for her grandmother and many calligraphy and paintings that her grandmother liked. She had already given them to the butler in private.
