Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 180

Everett didn't seem bothered at all. He shot her a knowing glance before heading to the bathroom to freshen up. Once he was back, he casually shrugged off his loose robe and started getting dressed. Selena's eyes drifted over, and almost accidentally, she caught the sight of his toned chest. It looked impressively muscular.

His broad shoulders sloped down to a narrow waist, a classic V-shape, and those legs-well, they seemed to go on forever. His proportions were so perfect that he could've stepped right out of a comic book. Even after having seen, touched, and kissed him countless times, she still found herself getting lost in the sight.

He suddenly turned, looking effortlessly distinguished.

Selena quickly turned away, feeling her cheeks heat up. She tried to remind herself that it was perfectly normal to admire beauty. She was just appreciating him without any extra fantasies attached. After all, it wasn't her fault he happened to check all her aesthetic boxes, something unlikely to change anytime soon.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

Everett noticed all her reactions but kept his cool, buttoning up his shirt with a calm elegance before slipping on his watch. "Did you finish your work?" he asked, his tone casual, giving nothing away. Selena snapped back to reality, eyeing him suspiciously. "Why do you want to know?"

Seeing her guard up, Everett frowned slightly. "You don't have to see me as a control freak. If you're not happy staying home and want to work, go ahead. But you need to avoid dangerous assignments like yesterday's. Or, I can arrange for a few bodyguards. They won't interfere with your work, just ensure your safety."

She was ready to start a war if he dared to mess with her job!

Selena was taken aback. 'Who brings bodyguards to work?'

Still, his change of heart was unexpected, especially after his dismissive attitude the previous day.

She was more of a soft-touch kind of person. With Everett being reasonable, she couldn't keep pushing him away.

Her tone softened as she replied, "Having bodyguards is a bit over the top. I'll be careful. I value my life. more than you think. I haven't even snagged a share of your wealth yet. I'm not going anywhere."

Everett gave her a cool look.

"Ahem." Knowing he was touchy about divorce talk, she quickly changed the subject. "I'm meeting Heather fater to wrap up the

Selena was about to add something when he dropped a bombshell she couldn't ignore.

"We've got an update for you."

...

By 7 p.m., they touched down at Newport airport.

Derick was already outside waiting for them. As they got into the car, he asked, "Mr. Bennett, are we heading straight there?"

Everett, holding Selena's hand with unusual gentleness, asked, "Feeling hungry? Want to eat first?"

Selena was anxious with anticipation and had no appetite. She shook her head. "I'm not hungry. Let's go straight there." She had to find out who was behind everything!

Was it Margot?

Caught up in her thoughts, she didn't even notice she was still holding his hand.

Everett gave her a thoughtful look but didn't protest. He simply instructed, "To the club."
