I asked around until my staff told me that he had seen Jarod head into one of the back rooms just before the competition ended.

“Let me come with you, please” my staff asks but I decline, I need to confront Jarod on my own.

“No, I need to do this on my own. I’ll let you know if something happens alright?”

“I don’t like this one bit ma’am but alright. I’ll take Jacek to Mr Cayden, would that be okay ma’am?”

” Yes please, tell them I’ll be with them in a few” he then walks away with Jacek while I head to the back room Cayden had told me Jarod was in.

I barge into the room without bothering to knock and Jarod is immediately risen from his contemplating session.

“How could you Jarod, I thought you were my best friend, I trust you?” I began with fire in my eyes

“Point of correction Lily, I was your best friend. You lost me the day you decided to let that… that excuse for a man into your life” To my amusement, Jarod responds just a s much vexation as I had and showed no remorse for what he had done “I wanted the best for you Lily but you paid no attention to me and rather spend your time with that idiot that calls himself Cayden.

“Don’t you dare call him names, Cayden has been more of a friend to me than you could ever be as a best friend. At least he wasn’t the one who sabotaged my efforts in a bid to ruin my life’s work and end my dream”

“And you are lucky it didn’t work, because I wish it did. I wanted to see you lose Lily, I wanted you to see just how important I was in you life before you allow animal into your life”

“Oh shut up, nobody took your place in my life. You’re just a jealous, egoistic and selfish piece of shit and I regret ever having you as a friend”

“The regret is mutual my dear and if I may ask, have you been sleeping with him? Because I can see that you’ve had his junk so deep in your skull that you can no longer think straight” That was it, I couldn’t take it anymore.

“You bastard, how dare you! I’ll…” I squeeze my fist with the intention of rocketing it straight for his ugly face but then I hesitate. This wasn’t me, I wasn’t going to let him turn me into the monster that he already was. I was going to be the civil and mature person here and comfort my emotions.

“You know what, I’m not going to say anymore. I can now see that you’ve become a lost soul and it’s just sad that you’ve let the devil get this deep into you and use you” I take my leave as he continues screaming

“You watch your back Lily, I’m not through with you just yet”

I stormed out of the room not noticing Christian and my other college classmate who I had previously met at the market and we’re jerks to me. I over my quarrel with Jarod and see it as an opportunity to make sure I didn’t win the competition. They go into the room and have a lengthy conversation with Jarod.

I reach Cayden’s car and notice Jacek watching a cartoon on a tablet in the passenger seat of Cayden’s Maserati coupe.

“Hey Lily, are you ready to go now?” He asks as he raises his head and sees me.

“Nothing really, I just needed to greet a few people and exchange pleasantries, that’s all” I waved my fingers in the air in expression.

“Alright then, really proud of you Lily you really did good back there” he smiles but I do not reciprocate the smile quickly enough ” you don’t look too happy Lily, are you okay?”

“Yes yes I am, in fact thank you so much Cayden, I really do appreciate your concern and help especially with the competition. It really means a lot to me”

“Say no more Lily, it’s the least I could’ve done after all you did for me”

“Well I’ve had a really stressful day, can you take me home please?”

“Sure sure, hop in please. You need to get home and rest”

We arrived at my place and before I could step out of the vehicle, Cayden stopped me.

“Hey before you go, I wanted to ask you something…”

“Okay sure”

“Well I was wondering if you’d be free tomorrow, I want to take you and Jacek out I’m the spirit of celebration”

“Well I… you know what? Sure, we would really love that” I need a distraction from the catastrophe that would have almost occurred today and I also needed to get my mind off my altercation with Jarod

“That’s wonderful, so I’ll see you by 11am, yes?”

“Yes Cayden, 11am it is” I see his face light up as I step out of the car and head into my place
