Love At Last

Lily is M. I. A

Cayden

“I think you should call her first and see how that goes. Then you can go into town and search everywhere you think that she could be; market, stores, a spot and whatnot. If you don’t find her, come back in the evening okay?”

“Yeah, sure. Thanks, man”

“My pleasure”

Jarod giving me advice has to be one of the weirdest things that have happened to me since I arrived Nedford. It’s a good look tho.

I got in my car and went to all the places I went to search for her initially, you know, you can never be too sure. I went to the park, her favourite thinking place and even the market, just in case she went to purchase something for the new shop; she wasn’t in any of those places. Where the hell could she have gone to hide? I was so worried, I just hope that she didn’t get kidnapped. That would be a real bummer.

I had one last stop before going back to the shop; her house. I got there and knocked on the door

“Coming!” That was Nana’s voice. She opened the door and saw me.

“Hello Mrs Annie, how are you doing today?”

“Not so good Cayden, Lily hasn’t returned home. I miss my baby”

“Still?” She shook her head

“Omg, this was my last stop. I thought she’d be here”

“Oh God, I hope my baby hasn’t gotten missing now” she was pretty shaken.

“She would come back, I know she would. Besides, she would never leave Jacek alone” I said as I placed my hand on her shoulder and led her to the couch to sit, calming her down. She had been watching a romance video before I got there. I played the movie for her and her mind settled. I felt guilty seeing Mrs Annie like this because I was the reason she disappeared in the first place. My mind was going haywire! Was Lily doing alright? I hope she’s fine. I couldn’t stop thinking of all the possibilities of events that could have happened. I stayed with Mrs Annie for a while and left her when she was more settled. I got into my car and dialled her number but it kept going straight to voicemail, so I left her voicemails but no response. I texted her about a million times but she didn’t reply, I panicked. I sat in the car for a while to take all of what was happening. It was just crazy.

I sat and observed the road, who knows, she could be here somewhere around. I saw couples hanging out at an open bar not so far away. It didn’t look like their first date, they synced, so it was obvious how much fun they were having. I just wanted that Lily but every time things are starting to give well, something goes wrong. Hell, it feels like a curse.

I got tired and started my engine. I drove back to Lily’s pastry shop to see if Jarod could help me in some other way that I won’t know since he’s known her longer than I do. Getting there, I saw Lily.

“Oh my God Lily! You’re here!” I was so happy she was okay and none of the things I thought happened to her happened. Guess she just needed some time away but she should have told her grandma though, she almost had a heart attack but anyway, it’s good to see her.

My first instinct was to go hug her and I went for it but she gave me attitude, so I stopped. Jarod left the shop so we could talk privately. They were about to close the shop.

“Thanks, man,” I said to him

“Sure,” He said, walking away.

“Hey Lily, I know you’re mad” She started walking in the direction of the door but I blocked her.

“You’re in my way” Her eyes were fiery.

“Please just give me a chance to speak”

“I don’t want to be anything you have to say Cayden, you’re a liar!”Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.

Her words stabbed my heart but I didn’t stop. I needed this woman to know that I didn’t know anything of this until the lady came and I’d never do anything to hurt her.

“Look, I get that you’re mad Lily that’s my bad. U promise you that I didn’t know okay? I’ve done so much wrong in the past but I care about you too much to lie about something this sensitive to your face. I can’t hurt you, my conscience won’t let me do that”

“I can’t even look at you Cayden! After all, we’ve been through, you still ended up cheating on me! I should have seen this coming. I feel like I’m always heading for doom with you. Please just stay away from me, okay? I’m not interested in what you have to say”

“Lily it’s not even like that. I told you I can’t lie to you. You mean a lot to me and I’m not taking it for granted. Please just believe me when I say I didn’t cheat because I didn’t.” I sighed “I need you to trust me, it’s just my past trying to revisit me and destroy my future because I’m finally happy but I won’t let that happen. So, would you please listen to me now?” I looked into her eyes, she had calmed down. It was a good sign, we could work with that.

“Just go on and say what you have to. You have about ten minutes, after that, I’m walking away.”

“Yes ma’am”

I went ahead and walked to a table, turned over the chair from the table that was previously upside down and sat down on it. She went back to the counter and dropped the bag that she was holding, alongside the keys and came back to meet me at the table I was sitting at. She motioned me to begin and I started…
