Chapter 211
Chapter 211 Don't Divorce
After that, Benjamin didn't glance at her again and immediately turned to head upstairs.
He was unwilling, and Harper had no way to convince him.
But she didn't leave. Instead, she stayed overnight in a guest room on the first floor.
If she were alone, going back at this hour wouldn't be a problem, but with a baby on the way, she didn't want to take any risks.
Afterward, Harper tried calling Annie again, but her phone was still off. If Larry could take someone away from the airport, he must have made up his mind.
Only Benjamin could persuade him.
Benjamin knew Harper hadn't left. After going upstairs, he stood on the bedroom balcony. From this angle, he could see Harper's car. He waited for about half an hour without any sign of movement before finally turning back to the bedroom.
A dreamless night passed.
The following day, Harper was up early. She went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. Draven, seeing her, was delighted. He said, "Harper, why didn't you sleep in a bit longer?"
"I've had enough sleep," Harper said with a gentle smile. "Draven, what time does Benjamin usually get up these days?"
"Sometimes earlier, sometimes later. But he rarely has breakfast at home lately, and he's been coming back late. Probably because you weren't here, so he didn't find it interesting." Harper paused briefly, just smiling without speaking.
After preparing breakfast, she went to the dining room to wait for Benjamin. Around 7:30, he finally came downstairs and entered the dining room, seeing her seated there. The chair had been emptying for days, and seeing her there now seemed to bring back memories of earlier times.
Benjamin, with an expressionless face, averted his gaze and sat down at his place. Harper quickly stood up to serve him soup, then quietly joined him for breakfast.
Just as Harper was pondering how
to broach the subject of last night, Benjamin's cold voice suddenly cut in. "Harper, you don't need to do this reluctantly or try to curry favor with me on behalf of Annie. I'll say it again. I'm not obliged to help."
Harper's face fell blank, her voice soft. "Then what would make you willing to ask Larry for me?"
"Anything I want?"
He lifted his eyelids, giving her a cold, scrutinizing glance.
She pressed her lips lightly and asked softly, "So, as long as we don't divorce, you'll help?"
Benjamin laughed.
His laughter wasn't because Harper had read his mind. Instead, he seemed amused by her presumption.
His handsome face carried a faint smile, but his eyes were undisturbed and icy as he slowly said, "Harper, what do you take me for?"
Harper's eyes went blank. She hadn't meant anything else. It was just the condition that had instinctively come to mind.
So, she had asked it outright.
Benjamin interpreted her silence as an admission, and he asked coldly, "Harper, do you really think I don't. want to divorce? You'd step back to the point of suggesting we don't divorce, all for Annie? You really are something!" This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Harper looked at his cold face, frosty as ice, his dim eyes enveloped in chill. She responded softly, "I'm sorry, I misunderstood you. I just wanted to show you my sincerity and hoped you would understand the importance of this matter, so I..."
"You don't need to explain. This is your issue." Benjamin cut her off with a calm, indifferent tone.
