His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 413

Eliza gave a faint smile.

Chelsea started to say something but then stopped herself. The words just wouldn't come out. The car slowly pulled out of the parking spot.

After making sure Casper got home safely with Caleb's help, Eliza was ready to leave too.

Just then, Caleb got a call. There was an emergency at the hospital. "Sis, could you please help with my brother's facial wounds? The hospital is packed with serious cases, and I need to be there." Caleb rushed off in a hurry.

Eliza stood there, puzzled. What now?

She sat on the living room couch for a bit, thinking she would ask the household staff to take care of Casper. But strangely, she couldn't find any of the servants.

Realizing Casper was too drunk to care, she figured treating his wounds wouldn't be too awkward. She grabbed the first aid kit and went upstairs.

The Welton Estate hadn't changed much over the years. The decor was the same, no new furniture, and even the wallpaper remained unchanged.

The bedroom was still the one she and Casper used to share.

Pushing the door open, she was hit by the strong smell of alcohol. She tiptoed to the window, gently parting the curtains to let fresh air in, clearing out the stuffiness and the smell of booze. Casper was still passed out on the bed, dead to the world.

She switched on the bedside lamp, and the soft orange light fell on his face, highlighting his handsome, deep features. His contours seemed softer now, but his cheeks were noticeably thinner. It must have been the stress from Welton International. Or maybe the effort of dealing with young women.

He looked, frankly, worn out.

Caleb had said he was upset and had been drinking. Given Welton International was doing well, was it... his love life?

She felt a rush of unexpected feelings and guesses.

Eliza took a deep breath, opened the first aid kit, and pulled out the alcohol and cotton balls, ready to treat his wounds.

Most of the injuries on Casper's face were abrasions. When the alcohol touched his broken skin, his eyebrows twitched suddenly.

Startled, Eliza quickly pulled her hand back, looking at him in surprise.

After he settled down, she resumed cleaning his wounds, slowly this time. "Hisss..."

As she applied the medicine, he winced in pain.

Thinking he wouldn't wake up as before, she quickly soothed him in a soft voice, "It'll be over soon, just bear with it a little longer, okay?"

His eyelashes fluttered slightly.

The next second, his eyelids lifted, catching her off guard as he looked straight into her eyes.

Eliza froze for a moment.

Was he awake?

Seeing his somewhat dazed look, she guessed that his eyes were open, but his mind wasn't fully awake.

"Does it hurt?" She gently blew on his wound, her voice tender, "It'll be all right soon. After I put on the bandage, it won't hurt anymore."

He just quietly watched her.NôvelDrama.Org © content.

Her movements were gentle and practiced, soothing him like he was a child Afraid he would hurt, afraid he would move, afraid he wouldn't cooperate, every move, every glance, was filled with patience.

His eyes reflected her meticulous, tender actions and the mesmerizing expression on her face.

"Wife..." he suddenly called out softly.

Hearing this, Eliza's fingertips trembled, and her expression instantly grew tense.

Was he calling her?

Or did he think she was Susan, the one who looked like her?

Maybe he mistook her for Susan?

It was possible; Susan did look a lot like her. It was normal for drunk people to get confused.

"Your wife, probably hasn't come

back yet." She lowered her eyelashes slightly appearing calm as she measured a piece of bandage against his wound. "I think she'll be back soon, don't worry."
