Chapter 105~ Child support
"Congratulations on getting rid of Lewis Hendrix, ma'am. Now you can run the company without any obstacles," Hannah Collins, Lora's assistant, said. Lora smiled.
Although Lewis and Craig were released on bail for them to await trial, it was a relief not to have them in the company. Otherwise, they could have caused the downfall of Davis & Co. "That's right... is Miss Kingsley's design ready for production?" Lora asked.
"Yes, it is. I'll monitor the project closely to make sure no one tries to steal it again. But no one would dare to now that Lewis is paying for his actions," Hannah replied. "Mr Kingsley really loves you, ma'am. He sorted everything out and you didn't even have to lift a finger." Lora smiled at the thought of Ryan. Indeed, Ryan had been very nice to her.
He put her first and always prioritised her safety and happiness.Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
With him, she felt secure.
When he was near, she felt at ease as though she was home.
"Arrange a special gift to give to Diane Kingsley as an apology for what almost happened to her design. Perhaps we can give her a free necklace or some diamond earrings from our best collection," Lora instructed.
Hannah typed the instructions on her tablet and replied, "I'll work on it, ma'am."
After Hannah left, Lora's phone chimed and a message popped up on her screen.
When she opened the message, her eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
She had just received an amount of four billion dollars from an unknown account.
Furrowing her eyebrows, Lora was about to call the bank when she received a call from Ryan.
"Hey, Ryan..."
"Hey, baby. Have you received the money?" Ryan responded on the phone.
Lora narrowed her eyes when she realised the money was from Ryan. She frowned and questioned, "Why did you send me all that money?"
"It's child support. Since you and the kids are not staying with me yet, I have to support them as their father," Ryan replied.
"Seriously?" Lora remarked. "Who gives four billion dollars for child support?"
"That's what our children deserve. Their father is a billionaire after all..." Ryan replied in his deep voice. "In fact, I wouldn't mind giving you my whole income. But I know you wouldn't agree, so..."
Lora sighed and responded, "I'll let this pass since it's for the kids but don't send so much money next time."
"There won't be a next time, because soon we'll move into our own home and we will take care of the kids together as husband and wife," Ryan said.
Lora blushed, biting her lower lip.
They didn't want to rush things because they wanted to give Freya time to accept their relationship. However, Lora still couldn't wait to live with Ryan again since things were different this time- their love was mutual.
It felt good to love someone.... and to know that special someone loved you back.
They chatted a bit about this and that before Ryan stated, "Grandpa wants the children to visit the Kingsley mansion and although I'm not a fan of Dad right now, I think he has to meet the children. He doesn't know he's a grandfather yet."
Lora nodded and replied, "Yes, no problem. I'll come with them over the weekend. Although, I hope they will be safe from your stepmother and Isabella."
The two women had always mocked and bullied Lora six years ago and Lora didn't trust them to be around her children.
"Don't worry, I won't let anyone hurt you or our kids," Ryan promised.
...
"Daddy, are we going to meet your Daddy?" Ella asked while seated in the backseat of the car.
Ryan nodded and replied, "Yes, you're going to meet your grandfather."
"So, does it mean he's our small grandpa? Since we have a big grandpa?"
Ryan smiled in amusement and said, "Yes, he is your small grandpa."
"Will he like us?" Ethan asked, his voice calmer than his sister's.
Ryan glanced at his son and ruffled his hair before saying, "Of course he will like you. You're his first grandchildren." Lora was quiet as she stared out of the window. Ryan glanced at her and asked, "Is everything alright, baby?" Lora turned to look at Ryan and smiled before replying, "I'm fine, don't worry."
She didn't want to worry him, but the Kingsley mansion was not a place she liked to visit. Ryan's stepmother and sister always pretended to be nice infront of him, however, they were not very welcoming to bora.
She had a bad experience with them in the past.
Ryan seemed to have read her mind. He remarked, "We are only here to see Dad, Grandpa and Diane. Don't worry about anyone else."
Meanwhile, Miles Kingsley was
standing outside of the mansion
with Diane and Charles. He frowned and looked at his father before
asking, Who are the important guests that we have to receive, father? How come I didn't know about this?"
Charles cleared his throat and replied, "They will be here soon... I didn't tell you because it's not my place to tell you. Why are you not close with your son? You could have
been the first person to know..."
"The first person to know what?" Miles asked, frowning in
confusion.
"You will know in a few minutes," Charles replied and then his eyes lit up when he saw the convoy of cars driving up the driveway. "Here they are."
Miles turned to look at the convoy of cars and his eyebrows furrowed as he asked, "Ryan is the special guest?"
Charles rolled his eyes and Diane stifled a giggle.
"Dad, just wait and see. It's a surprise," Diane remarked, looking at her father.
When their eyes met, sadness crept into Diane's heart. She used to be close with her father, however, ever since Celeste came into the picture, their relationship had never been the same. Could they really never get their relationship back to the way it used to be?
The sound of cars getting close echoed in the area and soon, the convoy of cars parked near the patio.
Miles frowned when Ryan got out of the car. He glanced at his father, Charles Kingsley, with a question mark on his face. However, before he could ask what was going on, he heard a sharp girly voice. "Grandpa!"
