Meanwhile, the Novak family in Houston.

After Kadin learned that Eric had come, he immediately put down his work and hurried back.

More than twenty years ago, Kadin had worked with Eric not long after his business took off. Eric was indeed an accomplished businessman. He had business savvy and guts.

But Kadin didn’t approve of Eric’s way of doing things.

Later on, Samara suffered a lot after she married into the Humphrey family, which made Kadin start to detest Eric.

Some time ago, the news of Samara and Chaim getting back together had spread like wildfire. It was impossible for Kadin and his wife to not worry. However, Samara had assured them that it was misinformation and that she would take care of it.

Samara had always been an independent girl. Kadin believed his daughter. Therefore, he and his wife did not ask too much about the things between Samara and Chaim, because it could only make Samara bad.

But now, Eric had traveled hundreds of miles from Chicago to Houston to visit the Novak family. Kadin naturally knew that it was about Samara and Chaim.

Eric arrived at the Novak’s house at around four o’clock in the afternoon. Mary happened to be home. She played host and guest with Eric with a false smile.

This old fox, Eric, kept beating around the bush. Plus, he was her elder. Mary could not help but feel a little impatient. So, before it was time for Kadin to get off work, she asked Kadin to come back.

Hearing the sound of the car engine outside the house, Mary breathed a small sigh of relief and continued to drink tea with her head down.

As soon as the car stopped, Kadin pushed open the car door and walked out.

He quickly walked upstairs. Just as he walked out of the staircase, Kadin saw Eric sitting opposite his wife.

Kadin put on a polite smile and walked over. “Mr. Humphrey, long time no see.”

“Mr. Novak, long time no see!”

Eric smiled and coughed as he spoke.

Kadin instantly thought of the news that Eric was sent to the hospital at midnight last week. It was said that Eric was seriously ill, but he seemed alright at the moment.

However, it was not the time to discuss this. Kadin quickly collected his thoughts and sat beside Mary with a smile. “Mr. Humphrey, why didn’t you tell me that you would be in Houston? I could’ve sent people to pick you up.”

Eric chuckled. “It doesn’t matter. This isn’t the first time I’ve come to Houston. What’s more, I came here this time to discuss

an important thing with you, Mr. Novak”

Kadin pretty much guessed what it was, but he pretended to be puzzled. “May I ask what it is, Mr. Humphrey?”

“Haha, something good! Very good!”

Eric laughed, coughed a few more times, and then looked at Jeff, who was behind him. “Jeff, give the documents to Mr.

Novak ”

When Jeff heard this, he quickly took out the documents they had prepared from the briefcase in his hand, placed them on the table, and pushed them to Kadin and Mary. “Mr. Novak, Mrs. Novak, Mr. Humphrey wants to make it up to Ms. Novak with

this.”

After Jeff finished speaking, Eric sighed. “Mr. Novak, 1 know that the Humphrey family has let Samara down. I didn’t do well in disciplining my grandson, which was why Samara was treated wrongly. I’ve been seriously ill, and it made me realize a lot of things. These days, whenever I think of Samara, I feel that I didn’t do my duty as an elder. Otherwise, Samara wouldn’t have been disappointed and divorced Chaim.”
