Chapter 533 What Are Your Intentions This Time?
Eleanor watched Casey walk away and tried to calm Philip, who was seething with anger. “Oh, don’t be so upset. It’s not worth getting yourself all worked up.”
“Casey has really pushed me to the edge. I never thought she would turn out like this. Can I even count on her to take care of me in my old age? It’s like she’s eagerly waiting for me to die so she can inherit the family wealth,” Philip fumed, a mixture of disappointment welling up within him.
He had never laid a hand on his daughter before, but in a fit of rage, he had slapped her. It hurt him more than it hurt her.
“Ever since her mother passed away, Casey has harbored resentment toward you, believing that you were the cause of her mother’s death. You know this, and even our son Peter doesn’t sit well with her. I’m genuinely afraid that she might target Peter in the future. That’s why I wanted to find her a suitable partner so she could start a family of her own. Once she becomes a parent, she might understand our perspective,” Eleanor said, feigning concern, appearing concerned for her son’s future.
However, her primary goal was still to regain half of the company’s shares that Casey held. Philip’s health was deteriorating, and if something were to happen to him, Casey would have the authority to kick her and Peter out of the family.
Philip looked at her with a sigh. “I wish she could understand your good intentions. She’s grown up but still so immature. I wonder when she’ll finally grow up.”
“Could you consider transferring some shares to Peter’s name, dear? That way, he would have the right to challenge his sister in the future. I’m genuinely worried that one day, they’ll turn against each other, and Casey might not even acknowledge Peter,” Eleanor pleaded.
“It’s not urgent, and it’s not solely my decision. The company was founded by Casey’s mother and me. We had an agreement that ownership couldn’t be transferred unless it was to Casey,” Philip explained.
He also didn’t see that his younger son, Peter, who was just an eight-year-old boy now, would have the immediate need for such arrangements.
Eleanor’s resentment deepened further upon facing another rejection. She knew she had to find a way to deal with Casey; otherwise, her and her son’s future in the Carter Family would be bleak.
Back in her room, Casey hid under her bed covers and sobbed.
She remembered the farewell letter her mother had left before jumping off the building, every word of it expressing her disappointment in her father, which had left Casey equally disillusioned with men.
Looking at her father’s current state, he seemed like an incompetent ruler. Casey wondered. what she could do to outsmart Eleanor. Suddenly, a face popped into her mind.
Casey slowly lifted her head, thinking of Symeon. This man appeared to have a powerful background, and she wasn’t sure if he could outmaneuver Eleanor. However, he seemed to despise her now, so why would he be willing to help her? Moreover, Symeon was interested in… that woman.
With this thought in mind, Casey was taken aback by herself. She seemed to have accepted. the fact that Dulcie was her daughter.
There was no denying it; the DNA results from the paternity test had made it abundantly clear that the child was indeed hers.
That evening, at Galaxy Bay, after Symeon returned home and changed into slippers, he casually asked the nanny, “Where’s Dulcie? Is she asleep?”
“Not yet. Miss Carter is telling her a bedtime story. Sir, is Miss Carter your new girlfriend? She has been coming over every day to accompany Dulcie, and Dulcie really likes her. They’re having a great time together.”
Casey?
Symeon’s action of changing into slippers paused for a moment. He looked at. the nanny and asked, “She’s been coming over these past few days? What does she want?”
“I don’t know about that. She just comes to keep Dulcie company, and she hasn’t done anything else.”
The man’s eyes shifted upstairs. He took off his suit jacket and handed it to the nanny before heading toward the staircase.
As Symeon reached the door, he could hear Dulcie’s adorable laughter from inside.
“Dulcie, do you miss your mother?”
I do but Daddy said Mommy isn’t my mommy anymore, and he wants to find me a new
mommy
“Are you afraid of your dad?”
“Yes, Daddy can be very scary, and he gets angry if I don’t call him Daddy”
Symeon turned grim at the conversation, finally realizing this was how the little one had been evaluating him.
He grabbed the doorknob, pushed the door open, and walked in, saying in a deep voice, “It’s already late. Why aren’t you asleep yet?” NôvelDrama.Org content rights.
Upon seeing her father, Dulcie immediately dove into Casey’s arms as if she had
encountered a terrifying ghost. Casey was heartbroken to witness her daughter’s fear, wondering how such a young child could be frightened like this, especially when it was her own biological father.
Symeon’s face turned even darker upon witnessing this scene. He turned to Casey and said, “You can leave now; I’ll coax her to sleep.”
“She’s already so scared just seeing you. How do you expect to coax her to sleep? You should leave. I’ll take care of it.”
While Symeon was rendered speechless, Dulcie peeked at him in Casey’s arms.
The man fell silent momentarily and then turned to leave the room, closing the door behind. him.
He leaned against the corridor wall, took out a cigarette, lit it, and waited for about half an hour. The room door opened from the inside, and Casey walked out, getting startled when she saw the man standing next to her against the wall.
Symeon stubbed the cigarette and stood up straight. “Speak up. What are your intentions. this time?”
“What intentions could I have? I just came to check on Dulcie. Besides, I didn’t stop you from pursuing someone else’s wife,” Casey replied with a sarcastic tone.
Symeon narrowed his eyes slightly. “You followed me to the kindergarten today?!”
So, she overheard my conversation with Amanda in the morning.
“It wasn’t intentional; you were talking in public. I couldn’t avoid hearing it,”
Symeon, wearing a wry smile, retorted, “So what? You climbed into my bed of your own accord back then, secretly gave birth to this child, and then neglected her. Now, what right do you have to accuse me? We haven’t even married, let alone discussing infidelity. Why put yourself in the role of a legal wife?”
“…”
Casey was left speechless, unable to come up with a response. It seemed like he was right, but she was unwilling to accept it.
She calmed herself and said, “Alright, I won’t argue about these things with you. Since you already have someone you like, can you return Dulcie to me? After all, you can continue to have more children in the future, while I only want Dulcie. I promise I won’t get married or have more children; I just want to love Dulcie.”
