Book2-Chapter 11
book 2 Chapter 11
The two men sit in the shadows of the booth, the glint of their watches and the smell of their cologne filling the air. My heart hammers in my chest as I drop my gaze and climb the three tiny steps to the pole in the center of the booth. I begin to dance. My movements are practiced yet filled with an undercurrent of fear as I pray he doesn't recognize me
Yet, his eyes never leave me, scrutinizing every movement with an intensity that makes my skin prickle. It's as if he's trying to piece together a puzzle. Each glance he throws my way sends a shiver down my spine, and I can almost see the gears turning in his mind as he tries to figure out where he knows me from
After the first song slows, I am about to attempt to escape and move to a different boothAll text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
However, his voice cuts through the haze of music and fear. "You're not leaving yet."
My breath catches in my throat, and I feel a cold sweat break out across my skin. His voice, deep and familiar, sends a jolt of panic through my body. I force myself to remain calm, but my legs threaten to buckle beneath me
"Come here," he orders, and I approach, my skin crawling under the weight of his gaze. Every step I take feels like a betrayal of my instincts, yet I can't afford to defy him. My mind races, frantically searching for an escape route, but my body moves on autopilot, driven by fear and the need to keep my job
As I reach him, the weight of his gaze feels like chains dragging me down, and I fight to keep
my composure, knowing that one wrong move could shatter the fragile control I have over this situation, which is none if he figures out who I am
He pats his lap. "Dance for me," he orders, and I swallow the lump forming in my throat. He tilts his head to the side, his eyes glowing brightly, reflecting his wolf is just beneath the surface as he watches me. Glancing at his friend, his friend seems taken aback and is watching his friend like he doesn't recognize him
It's only when I straddle his lap, feeling his hands on my waist, that I gasp. His grip tightens, and he leans in close. His lips brush against my ear, sending chills down my spine. I close my eyes, feeling my heart racing and my breath quickening as he inhales my scent deeply, praying to the moon goddess that he can't scent me through the descenter
A low, deep growl escapes him, its vibration rumbling from his chest against mine as he pulls back to look at me, his eyes meet mine and my breath is now coming in short gasps. I try to turn my face away, but he grips my chin, forcing me to meet his furious gaze. His lips part in a warning growl, and I can see the muscles 1n his jaw tense as he stares at me. I shiver 1n fear, knowing that I'm powerless against him if he orders my mask to be removed. He releases my chin and sits back; I move to scramble off him, but he grips my hips in both hands holding me in place, his eyes not leaving mine
"Vance?" his friend says as his grip on me tightens
"Get out," he commands the other man, who hesitates only a moment before leaving us alone
Vance's eyes bore into mine, searching, probing
"You're wearing a lot of descenter," he notes, his voice a low growl that sends shivers down my spine
"But not enough."
His hands move to my neck, not threatening but possessive as he sniffs, his nose brushing against my skin. "I knew it was you," he murmurs, and the world tilts on its axis
Panic flares within me, the walls closing in
How did he recognize me? What does he want?
The room spins as Vance holds me, his presence both terrifying and intoxicating
"Now, do you want to explain why the fuck you are here, Maya?" he asks, his voice soft yet filled with an intensity that has me wanting to run from him as his aura slips out and washes
over me
