CEO’s Unloved Wife

Chapter 11

He can’t die!

Dylan POV

I gulped down the lump in my throat, as his words echoed in my head. Wait! Did he just said my dad can’t survive the illness? This must be some sort of jokes, right? I can’t lose him, at least not now. He’s the only family I have, he’s the only one I have, he won’t leave me, right?

“Do… doc… what did you say?” I stuttered nervously, trying to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating, as my heart kept pounding heavily against my chest, like it was trying to force its way out.

“I’m sorry Mr Dylan, but there’s nothing we can do. The tumor has already spread almost all through his systems, and his lungs is almost totally damaged, so there’s nothing we can do about it.” He repeated the annoying and shocking words again, and I felt a loud thud in my head, as my eyes came spinning.

Slowly, I stood up on my feet, and hobbled to the door, while his words never stopped ringing in my head. I hobbled through the hallway, till I got to the emergency room, where he is. I stopped in front of the room, and stared at his face through the glass door, as tears came pouring out of my eyes.

Memories of years ago, flashed through my mind, how we were this cheerful family, how he have always been there for me, and never made me lack anything, he has always been the best dad, who anyone would pray to have, even after mom’s death, he made sure that he gave me all the love and attention I needed, he made sure that I don’t go sad a day, he never gave me the chance, to feel the absence and emptiness of mom in my life, he lived all his life for me, and now, it hurts that I may never get to see that smile on his face again, it really hurts that I may never get to see him alive again, just the thought of it, leaves me with nothing, but a deep scar in my heart.

I have everything, I have what it takes, to hire the best doctor in the whole world, but too bad that even my money, can’t buy him good health at this point. I wish there’s anything I can do about it, I wish I have the power to heal him, but too bad that I can’t.

I closed my eyes briefly, and threw my head back, while having my hands in my pockets, as more tears came pouring out of my eyes. I sighed softly, and wiped the tears off my eyes, before I finally opened the door, and walked inside.

Stepping inside the room, I stared at his pale face, as tears welled up my eyes again, and slowly, they found their ways out.

After staring at him for minutes, I finally moved my heavy and tired legs forcefully, till it got to his bed side, and I slowly sat down on the little space on the bed, not taking my gaze off his face.

“Dad… you won’t leave me, right?” I whispered in tears, as I took his hand slowly, and touched my cheek with it. As much as I want to stay strong, I just couldn’t help being like this, if you ever got to be in my shoes, then you would know how it really feels, seeing the only person that cares about you, die before your very eyes.

An idea popped up in my head, and I dropped his hand beside him carefully, before reaching out to my phone, which is inside my pocket. I think calling Ray, will help me in some ways.

Well, Raymond has been my childhood friend, and the only close friend I ever had. He always got my back in every situation, and always makes sure that I find my way around difficult times. He knows and have connections with many people, and if I’m not mistaken, there’s one of his friends, that’s a doctor, who knows, he may be of help.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

Scrolling through my phone contact, I finally spotted his number, and without wasting time, I clicked on the dial button, and waited impatiently for him to pick up, while praying silently that he’ll turn out to be able to render me help in the end. After what seemed like forever, his voice finally came on.

“Hey man, what’s up?” His ever calmed voice came on.

“Can we meet please Ray? I’ll text you the address.” I said, and without waiting for him to say a word, I hung up, and texted him the address of the hospital.

Slipping my phone back into my pocket, I sighed deeply, before taking my gaze to my dad. I pray nothing happens to him, I won’t be able to take it, if anything happens to him.

The sound of my ringing phone, jolted me out of my trance, and bringing it out of my pocket, I almost gasped at the caller, it’s Amy. She must really be worried about me, I’ve been so worried about dad’s health, that I didn’t bothered calling her that I’m at the hospital.

“Hello where are you Dylan? Are you ok? Why aren’t you home yet?” Her worried voice came on, as soon as I picked the call.

“I’m fine babe, I went to the hospital to check on dad, I’ll be back soon.” I said, trying as much as not to sound sad. Getting her more worried, is the last thing on my mind. After talking with her for a few minutes, I finally ended the call.

The knock on the door pulled my attention, and tilting my head, I was met with Raymond, looking in through the glass, and I ushered him in.

“Ray I need your help. The doctor just told me that his sickness is getting worst, he said that the tumor is now almost spreading through all his systems, and he may likely not to survive this. I don’t know how you can be of help, but just do whatever you can, I can’t let my dad die. He’s the only family I have, you know?” I rushed my words, as I stood up and faced him.

“You have to calm down man, he’ll be fine, ok? I know a doctor, I’ll call him now.” He said, before bringing his phone out of his pocket, after which he excused himself and went outside.

I waited impatiently for him, and after a few minutes, he finally walked in, and I watched him in anticipation, as I felt my heart, racing faster…
