Chapter 25
“What happened?” He asked briefly and Sydney understood the depth of those two words.
“I was fired” she replied curtly.
“What did you do?” He questioned her and she heaved a tired sigh before beginning.
“In the morning yesterday, Paxton broke out angrily and I avoided him and returned to my office where I kept wondering what my offense was”.
“I later went to the rooftop where you met me and when I got back to the office, he came back yelling at me because of a copied file he called a novice’s work look alike” she explained.
” I couldn’t control my anger so I ended up insulting him and he got angry and destroyed my office before firing me, I even forgot to pick my sack letter” she explained and he kept staring at her.
“Is that all that transpired?” He asked, seeming surprised.
“Yes, that was all,” she replied.
“That’s a trivial issue, that wasn’t enough reason for him to fire you” Jaxton said with a squinted gaze.
“Come to the office tomorrow” he stated curtly and her eyes flew open as she stared at him.
“That will be courting death, you need to see how enraged he was yesterday, he’ll definitely skin me alive if he sees my ass around the company’s vicinity” she explained to him.
He was a bit annoyed at how much she fears Paxton but don’t give a fuck about him.
“Come to the office tomorrow, you’ll no longer work for Paxton but for me” he stated and she stared blankly at him.
“That won’t be possible” she refused but agreed after several deliberations because she needed the job as fuck.
“Why don’t you fear me as much as you fear that freaky brother of mine?” He asked her with a sly smile and she looked away, knowing Paxton he must add a touch of playfulness to his seriousness.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
“Won’t you offer me something baby?” He said sheepishly as she walked out on him .
“See you tomorrow at the office” he said before standing up and walking out of her apartment.
He stepped into his car and drove to the company.
Sydney reached her room and was happy for getting a second chance and nervous at the same time, thinking of how to face Paxton.
She finally got the appetite to eat as she dashed towards the kitchen to prepare breakfast for herself.
She enjoyed her meal and saw movies throughout the day to while away time till it was time for dinner. She ate and freshened up before preparing herself for bed.
She slept peacefully till her alarm sounded the next morning and she woke up and had her bath before stepping out of the bathroom.
She put on a bodycon black dress which accentuated her curves and she combed her hair, leaving it to flow behind her back without wrapping it in a bun.
She put on white stilettos and picked her bag before stepping out of the house to board a taxi.
She reached the company’s residence and heaved an anxious sigh before walking towards the reception.
She looked at the parking lot and saw Paxton’s car and she heaved another sigh of relief, thinking he must have settled in his office and won’t see her.
She walked hurriedly, staring at the floor avoiding gazes because she knew news about her being fired must have circulated.
She entered the elevator and immediately it halted, she stepped out and saw Paxton addressing some senior employees who assembled in a circular form with him in the middle.
“That’s all I have to say, you can retire to your offices” she heard him say as they all walked away from the scene.
Her heart skipped a beat the moment his gaze settled on her.
“Go.. od m.. or.. ning sir” she stammered with her head bowed.
She was expecting him to yell at her furiously but what he said next left her in shock.
“Follow me” he said curtly before walking towards his office.
She dragged her legs behind him, wondering which trouble she landed in this time around.
