Mia looked at Hunter coldly. "Yes, she's not just anyone, she's your woman! I'm the outsider here!" With that, she turned and walked away. If she stayed any longer, she might not be able to resist taking a swing at him. His shamelessness knew no bounds! Hunter narrowed his eyes in annoyance. "Mia, you're so petty!"
Jenna was his sister-in-law and a core member of the Jasper family. She wasn't an outsider, she was family.
Mia stopped in her tracks and turned back to look at him. "Since you think I'll never measure up to your sister-in-law, just sign the divorce papers already. Then we can live our own lives without interfering with each other."
Here he was, refusing to sign the papers, while constantly finding fault with her. It was obvious he was deliberately tormenting her.
"Mia, I dare you to say the word 'divorce' one more time!" Hunter's voice was low, laced with irritation.
She really seemed to treat marriage like a game by throwing around the idea of divorce so casually.
Mia felt he was just being unreasonable. Unable to hold back, she replied, "Fine, I won't bring up divorce on one condition. You stay away from Jenna from now on! And I don't want to see you with her on the trending news again. If you can do that, I won't bring it up anymore."
There was no sense of security in her marriage to Hunter. How could any relationship survive like this?
"Mia..." Hunter began, but before he could continue, a soft voice came from his arms. "Hunter, where are we? What happened to me?"
If she hadn't woken up just then, there was a chance Hunter might have actually agreed. That would ruin any possibility she had with him, and there was no way she would let that happen!
Hunter snapped back to attention and looked down at her. "You fainted just now. Are you feeling alright? Should we go to the hospital?"Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
"I think I just passed out from low blood sugar. I'm fine now. There's no need to go to the hospital," Jenna replied softly, shaking her head.
Mia watched the scene unfold, a mocking smile tugging at the corner of her lips. Jenna had timed her " recovery' perfectly, just to stop Hunter from agreeing to her terms, hadn't she?
Was Hunter truly blind to such an obvious act, or was he just pretending not to notice? Either way, he was clearly willing to indulge Jenna without question.
"Hunter, want to stop by the law firm?" Jenna asked in a gentle voice, snuggling against him.
Hunter glanced over at Mia, raised an eyebrow, and then set Jenna down. "I'm heading back to the office for a meeting, so not this time."
He turned and called, "Mia, come here!"
At the sound of Hunter calling for Mia, Jenna's face twisted with resentment. She would have torn Mia
apart if she could. Mia always had a way of ruining her plans.
Mia flashed Hunter a smile. "Answer my question first! Once you do, I'll come over." She wasn't about to let him off the hook.
Jenna straightened her clothes, standing tall with a smirk directed at Mia. Did Mia really think she could sway someone like Hunter? Dream on if she thought he would agree to such terms! "Alright, I agree to everything. Now, will you come over?" Hunter said, barely remembering what her question" had even been, but he figured it was easier to just say yes.
"
Mia turned her gaze toward Jenna with a smile. Jenna had finally lost this little game. The satisfaction was undeniable.
Jenna shot Mia a furious glare, her eyes red with frustration as she looked back at Hunter. "Hunter, how could you agree to that?"
Her shaky voice made her distress unmistakably clear.
