Branch Thirty Four
The doctor moved Jessica to a private VIP ward as directed by Xavier. She did not know how long she had been sleeping when she opened her eyes.
She felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen as she looked around. She sat up gently and looked around she saw Xavier sitting on the sofa in the far corner of the room.
“Stay down,” he said walking up to her.
“What of work?” she asked blinking multiple times like an innocent child.
“I’m the next Chairman,” Xavier said with so much pride dripping from each word.
He already assumed the role of the chairman but since his grandfather was still alive everyone still address Dawson as the chairman. Jessica wondered bow she had already forgotten to who she got married.
“I said lie down, the doctor said you needed all the rest you could get,” Xavier said with the fear that was reflected in his eyes in the morning still lingering.
“How long have I slept for?” Jessica asked ignoring his order to sleep.
“It’s past two pm so it’s been about five hours now” Xavier answered.
He put his hands on her shoulders and push her to the bed. She let herself go seeing that he was more concerned about her lying down than him answering her questions.
“I slept for an awful long time” Jessica responded.
“Your fever is gone, how is the pain?” Xavier asked.
The doctor had explained the situation to him. Xavier had only known menstrual cramps as mild pains that usually lasted not too long. But today he had seen it in another dimension. The doctor assured him that there were cases of extreme pain common in some girls.
“Mild,” she said trying to ease his fears. She was still feeling the pain despite the pain relief injections given to her. She also saw the fear on her husband’s face and knew that if she said she was still in pain then he might lose it.
“You gave me quite a scare this morning. You barged in while I was in the shower. You threw up and almost passed out on the floor.
Jessica was in extreme pain but was aware of the entire situation. Suddenly as he began to speak and remind her of what she had done in the morning, she began to feel embarrassed and felt blood cluster on her cheek. Her cheeks tinted red and Xavier caught a glimpse of it.
“I am so sorry for the scare, I miscalculated and forgot to use the medicine I use for them beforehand,” Jessica said.
Xavier wondered what it was she miscalculated but he did not ask. Jessica saw the lingering question on his face but decided not to embarrass herself any further.
Jessica noticed the emptiness of the room. She wondered if she was in a private room like Dawson. Her eyes caught the logo of the hospital and knew it was the same one. Since she knew she was not going home tonight she would visit Dawson the next morning and keep him company. She could use it too.
“Have these bananas” Xavier said pulling one of the bunch in his hands.
“The doctor said it was good for the situation” he added giving her.
She collected it from him and peeled it before eating it silently. She needed to send him away but how could she do it nicely?
As the sun began to set Jessica looked out through the large glass window that made everything in her eye line beautiful. The sunset was beautiful to behold. Jessica has been praying that the sun should set quickly so that Xavier could finally go home.
It was obvious that he was trying to be of help but Jessica was getting uncomfortable with him around. He did not allow her to move an inch from the bed and served her all afternoon. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
It was such a sight. If Dawson had seen these he would have added his private assets to Xavier’s name and even die a content man. Xavier was being helpful intentionally and it was scaring Jessica. The end of the month signified that they were already a month wedded but she still did not feel comfortable around him.
Jessica made both breakfast and dinner every day for him and not for once has he offered help. She did not even bother to ask for help because she could do it all herself and with the help of a little kitchen staff and she doubted he would come to her aid. With his attitude all day it became a probability that he would have given her a helping hand.
Jessica stared quietly at the sunset while murmuring how lovely it would be to watch the sunset overlooking a beach or even the ocean.
A light knock is heard on the door before the person pushes it open.
“Hello Xavier,” Leslie said entering the room with Brian on her tail.
Leslie was Brian’s wife who used to be once after Xavier. She gave up when she noticed how closed off he was. She fell in love with his exterior but could not handle how small-hearted he was.
Jessica’s eye falls on Leslie as she walks in. She was beautiful to a fault. Her black luxurious hair fell to her waist only held down by a hair band. Her face was small and cute which made her adorable. Her voice resonated as an angel in the ears of Jessica.
Leslie’s eyes fall on Jessica and she rushes to her and stands beside her.
“Nice to finally meet the man that married this pain in the ass,” Leslie said looking at Jessica. Her blue eyes shine as if they were lined with something glittery.
“I am Leslie, and you look exceptional even in that hospital gown” she added stretching forth her hand to Jessica.
Jessica took her hand. Leslie held onto her hand and softly caressed the back of it. This was her first meeting with Jessica but she knew they would be absolute best friends.
“I thought your wife was a troll or even ugly which was why you were hiding her from me. I never knew she was such a goddess” Leslie said.
Jessica had never been showered with so many compliments many times in a row she somehow felt uncomfortable.
“Brian, your wife,” Xavier said Browning slightly and going towards the sofa. He was feeling irritated that Leslie who was just coming in has uttered more words than the two of them combined all-day
“I mean she is not wrong,” Brian said taking his wife’s side. His wife can go overboard sometimes but she was very correct this time.
Brian had been in charge of getting the fake wife that escaped and since Xavier tied the knot with Jessica he had not laid eyes on her except from her pictures.
“You are beautiful,” Brian said addressing Jessica.
Uncomfortably Jessica shifts in the bed and murmurs “Thank you”
“By the way I am Brian and this is my wife Leslie. I work as Xavier’s secretary and it’s nice to meet you”
“I am Jessica and it’s nice to meet you
