A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 814: Mastering the Situation

Ranita’s face turned even redder as she glared at Brendon. “Brendon, stop talking nonsense!”

Ranita poured a glass of water for Allen Stuart and washed some fruit for him, all while Brendon kept his eyes fixed on Allen Stuart.Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Allen Stuart found it extremely amusing. Not only did he not refuse Ranita’s attention, but he also happily chatted with her, playfully saying, “Ranita, you’ve been in Kurima for so many days without inviting me to eat. I miss you and Ayaan a lot.”

“I want to see Ayaan. He must miss his uncle too.”

Brendon couldn’t help but roll his eyes. “He misses his dad more.”

Allen Stuart raised an eyebrow. “That’s not necessarily true! I bought a big Lego spaceship for him. Give me your address, and I’ll send it over.”

Brendon, lying immobile on the hospital bed, felt a surge of anger.

“Ranita, whatever Ayaan wants, I’ll buy it for him,” Brendon said pitifully, looking at Ranita. She gave him an exasperated look. “Just focus on recovering!”

“Exactly! Brendon, you need to rest!” Allen Stuart paused before adding, “Ranita, let’s have lunch tomorrow. A friend of mine opened a revolving restaurant; it’s quite fun.”

Allen Stuart looked smugly at Brendon. “Brendon, Ranita has been taking good care of you. You wouldn’t mind if I take her out for a nice meal, would you?”

Brendon: …

What could he say?

“I’m lying here unable to move, can’t even get out of bed. If she wants to go out and have fun with someone else, what can I say?”

The jealousy in the air was palpable.

Allen Stuart suppressed a laugh. “It’s good that you can accept it, Brendon!”

Brendon wanted to punch his brother.

“Ranita, it’s settled then! Are you staying here tonight? Or should I take you home later?”

Brendon looked at Ranita anxiously.

Silently, his eyes were heart-wrenching.

When it came to playing the pity card, Brendon was an expert. Ranita sighed. “Yes, I’ll stay tonight. Come pick me up tomorrow.”

Brendon was immediately unhappy when he heard she was going out with Allen Stuart. “How can you leave me here to drink plain porridge alone?”

“What do you want me to do? I need to discuss something with Allen. Be good, or I’ll go home now.”

Seeing how Ranita had Brendon wrapped around her finger, Allen Stuart couldn’t help but laugh out loud. He looked at Brendon as if he were seeing a rare animal, his eyes full of ‘you deserve this’ schadenfreude.

“What are you laughing at?” Brendon checked the time. “I need to sleep now. Hurry up and leave!”

Allen Stuart was driven away.

Ranita teased him. “You’re a grown man and still throwing tantrums with Allen. Impressive!”

“He wants to take you out for dinner and a date. He’s got too much free time,” Brendon retorted indignantly and closed his eyes, pretending to sleep.

“Childish!”

Ranita ignored him and went downstairs to fetch some clean clothes and her laptop. Dylan asked her irritably, “Are you really staying to take care of Brendon?”

“Go home now. I’ll call Ayaan later.” Ranita sighed and said, “He got hurt because of me.”

“It’s just a few days of care; consider it repaying his favor.” Though she said this, Ranita knew that this debt could never be repaid with just a few days of care.

Brendon had nearly lost his life for her.

Just thinking about it made Ranita’s heart ache as if it were suffocating.
