A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 809: Taking Care

Ranita’s cheeks turned red from the kiss.

She struggled a bit. “Let go of me… the nurse might see us…”

Brendon hissed in pain, “Don’t move, don’t move, you’re hurting my wound!”

Ranita was so angry she wanted to curse him, but seeing his pale lips, she knew he wasn’t lying. She couldn’t bring herself to scold him.

“Move slowly, let go, I’ll get up.”

Brendon shook his head. “I want to hold you.”

“Ranita, you’re so heartless. You didn’t even look back at me. I’ve been in pain every day, waiting for you to come. It hurts so much I can’t even type, but I still hoped you’d visit. And yet… I waited two or three days and you never came.”

Brendon’s resentment was heavy, making Ranita feel guilty and awkward.

“I didn’t mean not to come…” She paused, lowering her eyelashes. “I was really worried about you.”

Brendon nodded and suddenly acted coy. “Ranita, my back itches. Can you scratch it for me?”

Brendon had been lying down for days, with the nurse turning him over daily. Even when he felt uncomfortable after waking up, he never let Shannon touch him.

“Where?” Ranita’s fingers were warm from his grip. When they touched his back, it felt like two lines of fire intertwined.

Her fingertips lightly grazed his skin, making Brendon feel an itch all over.

It made him shiver slightly. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

“Are my hands cold?” Ranita was startled and apologized, “I’ll rub my fingers first…”

“No, it’s just a bit itchy.” Brendon turned his broad back towards her. His skin was honey-colored, smooth and elastic to the touch. Ranita felt a bit awkward touching it.

“A little to the side!” Brendon’s voice interrupted her thoughts. Ranita refocused and diligently scratched his itch.

Brendon’s back was truly attractive, making Ranita’s mind wander…

“Ranita! Ranita!” Brendon reached out and tapped her nose, reminding her, “Daydreaming again? Is there something special on my back?”

“No…” Ranita quickly found an excuse to step out for some air and called Eve to tell her she wouldn’t be coming back tonight.

Eve was displeased. “You’re not staying to take care of Brendon, are you?”

“That jerk doesn’t deserve your kindness.”

Ranita defended Brendon, “He got hurt because of me this time. I feel guilty.”

Eve sneered, “Guilty or do you feel sorry for him?”

Caught off guard, Ranita smiled helplessly. “Both.”

“You! There are so many men in the world, yet you choose him… and you’re too scared to tell him!”

Eve snorted. “Now that he’s broken off his engagement with Shannon, why don’t you tell him how you feel?”

“Well… I’ll find a time to talk to him.” Ranita sighed. “I can’t just suddenly walk up to him and say it… that would be so awkward…”

Eve laughed sarcastically. “Alright then, find your own chance.”

“Watching you two is exhausting.” Eve paused before adding, “I’ll keep an eye on Ayaan for you, don’t worry!”

In the hospital room, only Ranita stayed with Brendon. He spent most of his time sleeping while Ranita kept herself busy following online events.

This time, the suspect in the intentional injury case was one of Shannon’s obsessive fans, but overall it seemed unrelated to her. Some people even felt sorry for Shannon having such fans.

Ranita could tell at a glance that this was Lena Diaz’s doing.
