A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 801: Awake

“Brendon…” Shannon’s eyes immediately turned red, looking as aggrieved as a pitiful kitten.

Holly immediately defended Shannon. “Brendon, why are you glaring at Shannon like that?”

“Do you know that Shannon donated 400 milliliters of blood for you during your surgery? After the surgery, she stayed by your side day and night, neglecting her own health. Look at how haggard she has become!”

“She has given her all for you. Aren’t you moved at all?”

Holly’s defense of Shannon was relentless. She turned to attack Ranita, pointing at her nose and scolding, “And you, Ranita, what have you done for my brother?”© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

“You couldn’t even donate 200 milliliters of blood without fainting! How can you compare to Shannon?”

Holly’s passionate speech questioned Brendon. “Brendon, can you honestly say Shannon hasn’t been good to you? Yet you insist on getting entangled with Ranita right in front of Shannon. You’re breaking her heart.”

Brendon was so angry his breathing became uneven.

Ranita’s heart was in her throat. Brendon needed rest, and their arguing would only disturb him.

“Holly, you’re lying! Who’s pretending to be weak? Who donated 200 milliliters? Ranita clearly…”

Ranita stopped the agitated Eve and looked at Brendon. “It’s good that you’re awake. Rest well and eat. When you’re feeling better, I’ll bring Ayaan to see you.”

“Ayaan, say goodbye to Daddy.”

Ayaan pouted but obediently waved. “Daddy, get well soon. Ayaan loves you.”

Ranita took Ayaan and left.

Eve was so angry she nearly spat blood, but with Ranita gone, arguing was pointless. She followed Ranita out in a huff.

In the car, Eve gritted her teeth. “Ranita, why did you run? We were already in the ward. Didn’t you want to see Brendon? What does it mean now that you’ve left?”

“And you clearly donated 400 milliliters of blood for Brendon. How could Holly say…”

Ranita had a splitting headache. “Enough, Eve. Brendon just woke up from surgery and needs rest. Arguing in the ward would disturb him.”

“You… Ah! In front of Brendon, you’re just a little woman!” Eve glared at her in frustration.

“But it’s good he’s awake.” Despite her harsh words, Eve had been worried too. Now that Brendon was awake, she felt relieved.

“Go home and get some sleep, eat well, and regain your energy before going back to the hospital to outshine Shannon!” After a pause, Eve added, “But wait! Shannon is so good at acting pitiful! You know how men are… they like those delicate types who can’t take care of themselves…”

“Maybe we should act a bit pitiful when we go back.”

Ranita laughed. “No way! I’m going home to rest and eat.”

“That’s the spirit! Your health is most important!” Eve hugged her and pinched her bones. “You’re so thin!”

Although she hadn’t had a proper conversation with Brendon, seeing him awake and hearing the doctor say his condition was stable put her mind at ease.

Ranita returned to the villa, ate a big bowl of easily digestible lean meat porridge, and went to sleep. She slept until noon the next day. She woke up a few times but quickly fell back asleep until Mr. Goodman’s phone call woke her up.

Only then did Ranita remember she needed to go to the police station to see Aldo Mays.
