A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 216 Heartfelt Thoughts

The bouquets were exactly the same.

Looking at the imprint on the card, they all came from the same store!

“Ranita, you have so many admirers! Four of them came at once. I’m really jealous… unlike me, I only know one guy well – Brendon,” Shannon said in a snarky tone.

Brendon picked up a card from one of the bouquets and saw the handwritten signature on it. He was so angry that he crumpled it into a ball.

Steve!

Then another one – Dylan!

And finally Chris’s!

Dylan was understandable, but what did Steve and Chris mean? Were they his friends or something?!

Ranita also saw them and felt touched inside.

Except for Dylan, these people weren’t particularly close to her, but their gestures comforted her nonetheless.

Steve’s message was sent first, “Did you receive your flowers? If others have them, then of course you should too. Be happy.”

Then came Dylan’s, “The flowers were late. Someone didn’t give them to you so I did! From now on I’ll bring you some every day! Brendon will be furious!”

As for Chris, there was no news yet.

But Ranita could feel their intentions behind it all. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

“Ranita!” Brendon reached out and took away her phone. “What is this about? Why are they sending you flowers?”

Shannon saw that Brendon wasn’t happy about it and tried to console him, “Brendon, don’t be angry! Ranita is young and pretty. It’s normal for guys to pursue her…”

This wasn’t consoling at all; she was just pouring oil onto fire.

Shannon looked self-righteous as she continued speaking, “Ranita, you shouldn’t act like this… you haven’t finished things with Brendon yet. How can you do something without any moral bottom line?”

Shannon had quite an interesting personality…

If anyone lacked moral bottom lines here, then Ranita knew she couldn’t keep up with herself either. How dared Shannon say such things?

“Miss Murphy,” Ranita spoke up firmly. “This is between me and Brendon. Please don’t interfere! Otherwise if I can’t help but say something that hits your sore spot later on, then crybabying over me won’t make any difference.”

After a pause, Ranita took her phone back from Brendon’s hand and looked at him with a faint expression. Taking a cue from Shannon, she spoke sweetly and softly, “Brendon, they’re all my friends. I haven’t been feeling great lately, so them sending me flowers isn’t too much to ask for! It’s just one bouquet of flowers. You don’t mind, do you?”

Ranita smiled as Brendon’s eyes darkened.

He always hurt her like this.

“Ranita!” Brendon lowered his voice in anger as it crept up to his forehead. He was sharp like the winter wind that cut through people.

But Ranita wasn’t going to back down – what was the point of giving in? She had been disappointed so many times before that it left her bruised all over.

“Brendon, why are you so angry?” She feigned innocence and helplessness. Who wouldn’t know how to do that? “Brendon, you’re being unfair! You send Miss Murphy gifts and flowers and take her out on dates! What did I say wrong? Am I not allowed my friends sending me one bouquet of flowers?”

As she spoke those words out loud, Ranita felt disgusted with herself for stooping so low.

But men were easily swayed by such tactics.

Brendon’s anger dissipated somewhat as he pulled Ranita into his arms in front of Shannon. He gritted his teeth but used his fingers to wipe away the tears at the corners of her eyes.
