“Ranita, don’t be stubborn!” Brendon paused before continuing, “Let me help you with your luggage.”Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

Ranita returned to the suite just as the waiter brought in their dinner. Brendon took it upon himself to put her luggage away and instructed her, “You should eat quickly! Don’t starve yourself.”

“I’ll wait for you,” she replied.

“Great!” Brendon raised his eyebrows and went to wash his hands before sitting across from her.

“Ranita, I’m sorry about Shannon’s behavior,” he said.

At his words, Ranita’s fingers stiffened. She looked down and said, “What are you apologizing for?”

“Shannon doesn’t know any better and made you unhappy.”

“Eat first, talk later,” Ranita didn’t want to discuss Shannon.

They had only taken a few bites when the doorbell rang. Ranita’s eyelids twitched with a sense of foreboding. As expected, they heard Shannon’s soft voice calling out sweetly, “Brendon, I’m hungry. Can you accompany me to the restaurant?”

Brendon replied softly, “I’m already eating…”

Before he could finish refusing her request though, Shannon hurriedly walked in two steps saying in a low voice, “Brendon! It would be great if I can join too? Eating alone is so lonely…”

As she spoke she caught sight of Ranita sitting upright like a stick; seeming hesitant for quite some time before finally stuttering out, “Sorry for disturbing you Ranita…”

Ranita silently grumbled in her mind, thinking, “If you know it’s embarrassing, then don’t come!”

“Brendon! If Ranita minds, I can go back. I won’t die if I miss a meal,” Shannon sniffled, her eyes already misty with tears, looking pitifully upset.

Brendon glanced at Ranita, “Ranita…”

Ranita smiled, “We won’t be able to finish all these dishes anyway. If Miss Murphy wants to join, let’s eat together! I just don’t know if it suits her taste.”

Shannon immediately leaned softly towards Brendon’s side, pretending to be coy. “I like whatever Brendon likes.”

Brendon sat down, and Shannon immediately sat beside him, leaning heavily against him.

“Miss Murphy, the seating over there is so cramped. You’re practically sitting on my husband’s lap. Why not come over to my side? There’s more space here.”

Upon hearing this, Shannon immediately bit her lip, looking aggrieved. “I didn’t… Ranita, you misunderstood me… It wasn’t intentional! After all these years, I’ve become accustomed to being close to Brendon, and it slipped my mind.”

“Brendon, I’m sorry,” Shannon handed him a knife and cunningly moved to the side, just enough to be on the edge of the sofa.

She was about to fall off.

“Shannon, be careful not to fall!” Brendon pulled her, and of course, Shannon took the opportunity to press herself against Brendon’s arm.

“Thank you for your concern, Brendon. I’m fine!” She paused and said in a soft and sweet voice, “You should eat your meal quickly. You’re always so busy, don’t let yourself go hungry and harm your health!”

“Do you remember when we were in high school and I got sick? You took care of me for three days straight until you got sick yourself. That time I cried so much my eyes swelled up… So please take care of yourself or else it’ll break my heart.”

Shannon spoke calmly while subtly glancing at Ranita with a hint of pride and boasting.

It was as if she was telling Ranita that their feelings for each other had started from a young age, so what did Ranita even matter?!

Ranita felt like she was chewing wax.

Her heart was pierced with pain and bleeding profusely.
