Chapter 177
The accountant, Penny, lifted her head proudly. “Ms. Larson, I already told you–if you have any questions, just ask me.”
P
Cynthia pushed the bills aside and looked up at Penny. “What do you usually do in the finance department?”
Unsure why Cynthia suddenly changed the topic, Penny stammered, “M–Managing all of the company’s financial data.”
“Isn’t organizing these documents part of your job?” Cynthia gestured at the bills on the desk. She then sized Penny up. The latter was in her thirties, wearing a low–cut top and a miniskirt, with heavy makeup. She looked more like she worked at a nightclub than in the finance department.
“How much is your monthly salary?” Cynthia asked again.
“3 thousand dollars,” Penny answered anxiously.
Cynthia muttered, “Not a bad salary.”
Penny had a bad feeling, and sure enough, Cynthia continued, “For such a high salary, this is how you organize the bills? And you have the nerve to show them to me like this. Do you think I can’t do anything about it?”
Penny remained silent, internally judging whether this new CEO was a pushover.
“You have one hour to organize these properly, or you can pack your things and leave,” Cynthia gave an ultimatum.
Penny’s expression changed slightly. To prevent Cynthia from noticing any discrepancies in Larson Group’s accounts, she had deliberately messed up the documents. Now, organizing them properly was not an easy task, and she couldn’t do it. Otherwise, the errors would become apparent.
“Ms. Larson, these bills are quite a mess. It’s not something that can be sorted out quickly,” Penny uttered.
Cynthia smirked, her gaze cold. “That’s your problem. If you can’t organize them by then, you can leave.”
Penny frowned slightly, her thoughts spinning in all directions. She was actually Felicia’s cousin. As a technical school graduate, she only got the job because of Felicia. Recently, Felicia had warned her that the company was nearing bankruptcy and that she should think of an exit plan. After that, Felicia proposed a plan to embezzle the company’s remaining funds, splitting the money between them. Given Penny’s high living expenses, she knew she wouldn’t find another job like this if Larson Group went under. Succumbing to temptation, Penny colluded with Felicia to siphon off the last of the company’s money.
But now,

with a new CEO in place, their fraudulent activities would inevitably be discovered. Penny couldn’t stay at Larson Group any longer.
Under Cynthia’s cold gaze, she removed her ID badge from around her neck. Straightening her back, Penny tossed the badge onto the desk, saying, “Then, I quit. Find someone else to sort this
out.” After saying
at, she turned and left without a backward glance.
Cynthia exchanged a look with Liam, silently acknowledging they were on the same page. Liam signaled Ziv with his eyes and instructed, “Follow
her.”
Ziv immediately understood and mobilized his subordinate to follow Penny.
Cynthia placed her hands on the table, looked at Liam, and remarked, “It seems

had the same idea.”
“These documents are clearly problematic. The shareholders knew Sullivan Group would invest in Larson Group. They saw it as an opportunity and didn’t want to let go of their shares. But this woman chose to quit, which only proves she has something to hide,” Liam replied before reaching out to pat Cynthia’s head approvingly. “It looks like Larson Group will flourish under your leadership.”
Cynthia smiled, somewhat embarrassed. Her gaze suddenly fell on the pile of bills, and she frowned. ‘There are several years worth of documents. Sorting through them will take a long time. I should have made Penny organize them before letting her go. Now, I have to do it myself,‘ she complained inwardly.
Seeing Cynthia buried in the paperwork, Liam slapped her on the butt with dissatisfaction. “Have you forgotten you have a husband?”
Embarrassed, Cynthia covered the spot he had slapped and instinctively glanced around. Fortunately, Ziv had gone out, and the office was empty. Her cheeks flushed pink, losing the sternness she showed to others. “What are you doing?” she asked coquettishly.
Liam took the bills from her and retrieved his phone to make a call. Cynthia knew he was summoning help. Soon, elite personnel from Sullivan Group arrived at Larson Group, including finance, marketing, and planning experts. Upon arrival, they immediately dove into the work at Larson Group with professional efficiency.
Cynthia suddenly found herself without anything to do and felt somewhat embarrassed. “What about Sullivan Group if you bring them all here?”
“Don’t worry. Only the best make it into Sullivan Group. Even if half the staff were relocated, the company would still run smoothly,” Liam answered as he gazed at her. “These people will stay here to help Larson Group get back on track.”
Cynthia firmly expressed her disagreement upon hearing that. “Let’s not do this. They worked hard to get into Sullivan Group, and transferring

them to my small company isn’t fair to them. Once the company stabilizes in a few days, you should take them back.”
Liam calmly replied, “Don’t worry. Even though they’re working here, Sullivan Group is still paying their salaries. Now that Sullivan Group and Larson Group are working together, this is practically their second platform for growth. Besides, with their boss‘ wife running Larson Group and Sullivan Group backing it, the future is very promising.”
Although Liam’s words were encouraging, Cynthia felt increasingly guilty. After all, she had no experience managing a company and feared she might drive it into bankruptcy.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Mason had finally regained consciousness after emergency treatment. It turned out to be a heart attack. After coming out of the operating room, he was immediately taken to the intensive care unit.
By the time Felicia and Roseanne arrived, visiting hours were over. With no intention of visiting, Felicia went straight to the doctor for information.
“Acute myocardial infarction. Although he was resuscitated, his body has been affected. He currently has no feeling on his right side,” the doctor explained.
Roseanne’s expression grew complex. How could someone who was perfectly fine suddenly become paralyzed?
Felicia, on the other hand, showed no emotion. She was currently involved with James. She only remained by Mason’s side to milk him for whatever he had left.

As Felicia was pulling Roseanne to leave, the doctor stopped them. “You’re the patient’s family members, right? The medical and hospitalization bills are overdue. You need to settle the payment so we can proceed with further treatment.”
Felicia halted in her tracks and told the doctor, “We’re not his family. If you want to collect money, go to Larson Group and look for Cynthia Larson. She’s the patient’s daughter.” With that, she dragged Roseanne away without looking back.
Though Felicia had some money, she knew Mason would likely be paralyzed, turning him into a financial and emotional drain. She had no intention of spending any more money on
