Chapter 266 A Female’s Voice

Chapter 266 A Female’s Voice

“I tried to persuade him to quit, but he wouldn’t listen!”

“He said he couldn’t live longer because he had cancer, and he would do anything to save Emma’s life,

including murdering.”

“I am really sorry about the whole thing! But I just can’t afford your medical charges, all the five hundred

thousand dollars I had given to the hospital to treat Emma.”

Fay wept so miserably. She reckoned Baron came to her for money.

Baron learned a lot from her words.

First of all, he knew that Emma had leukemia.

And second, Alan got cancer, and he was running out of time. He hit Terry for money to pay her

daughter’s medical expenses.

It was a grievous story. Their family was very poor, and it could be told from the way they looked, the

way they dressed, and how weak Emma was.

Baron felt pretty heavy as if there was a lead softball in his chest.

He was supposed to hate Alan, for he hit Terry and cause Terry to get in a coma.

However, after hearing the story, he felt it in a different way.

Alan, of course, did a bad wrong thing, but he was still a good father.

He did earn a good father title.

If he had a second choice, he would never hit Terry.

Baron had the same feeling of hopelessness. His mother was diagnosed with cancer and needed a big

sum of money to get medical treatment, and he tried everything he could and asked everyone he knew,

but he just couldn’t raise that amount of money.

“Madam, get up, I come for you, not for money.”

Baron leaned forward in a hurry, helping Fay up, and said in a promised tone, “I won’t sue you for the

medical expense, instead, I will pay all medical expenses to cure your daughter!”

Now, a few hundred thousand dollars was like nothing to Baron.

There were many families like the one of Emma, but he wasn’t able to help all of them out, he just

could help whoever he met.

Fay stopped sobbing immediately, looking very surprised. She questioned to confirmed, “Are you

saying you are gonna help… Emma?”

“Yes, madam, you have my words. Get up, please. I have a few quick questions for you, meaning no

harm,” said Baron at once.

Fay then confirmed that she didn’t misunderstand. She got up, tears floating from her eyes down to her

cheeks, and made grateful bows to Baron.

After a few minutes, she turned peaceful.

“Mr. Owen, please go ahead, I will be frank and tell you everything I know!”

Fay said, staring into Baron’s eyes. She would do anything if it could save her daughter’s life.

“You were saying that someone gave your husband five hundred thousand dollars to hit my father-in-

law, do you know who it was?” asked Baron.

Fay shook her head apologetically, “Mr. Owen, to be honest, all the whole thing, I didn’t involve in, it

was all done by my husband.”

“When he came back home with the money, I was shocked, I thought he robbed a bank.”

“Later, I kept questioning him, and he told me he was hired to hit someone for five hundred thousand

dollars.”

“I couldn’t stop him, and after that, I haven’t seen him again!”

Fay sobbed, with tears shedding, heartrending.

Baron felt a bit disappointed, for he was hoping to get some useful information from her, although he

knew that Alan would not tell her anything to protect her and his daughter.

Alan thought he could cut off all the clues if he died in the car crash, he was wrong.

Fay was not clever, for she really told Baron what her husband had let her know. If Baron wanted to

sue her, with what he said, he could get the five hundred thousand dollars back, the money for her

daughter’s medical expense.

“Madam, try to think deeper, was there any stranger that your husband met before he died? Or some

weird calls? Or messages?”

Baron wouldn’t quit.

If anyone had contact with Alan, then there would be no more than three ways – face to face, phone

call, or message.

Fay shook her head again, “He works in a warehouse as a truck loader in the daytime, and drives an

unlicensed taxi in the evening. When he gets home, he seldom talks to me. So really, I just don’t have

any idea what he did and who he met when he was outside.”

“Is his phone with you?” questioned Baron.

Fay shook her head, and said with her eyes red, “His phone was burned out that day!”

It dashed Baron’s hopes.

He hoped to obtain some clues from Fay, but now everything seemed to lead to a dead end.

But it was not all that bad, at least he knew it was a murder, not an accident.

Baron couldn’t figure out why someone wanted to murder Terry, a kindhearted person.

Could it be someone he had offended?

But Baron already arranged his people to check, and Terry hadn’t offended anyone recently.

And Baron had never thought it was Sherry.

“Sorry, I can’t help.”

Fay said with regrets.

To her surprise, Baron didn’t exclaim for the compensation, instead, he promised to pay all the medical

expenses that Emma’s disease would cost.

She appreciated Baron’s favor and wanted to help, but she just didn’t know any other thing.

Baron shook his head, passing his name card to her, “Madam, this is my number, feel free to call me if

you remember or find any useful clue!”

Fay nodded promptly, “Mr. Owen, please rest assured, I will try and ask about his friends to see if I can

get something.”

“Thank you in advance!”

Baron said with appreciation, and he looked at Kris, “You are responsible for Emma’s treatment, give

her the best hospital and the best doctor, get her cured as early as possible!”

Kris slightly bowed, “Yes, Mr. Owen!”

“Madam, give your phone number to him, and he will arrange everything for you!”

Baron spoke to Fay.

Fay, of course, felt very grateful, and she was about to get down on her knees but was stopped by

Baron instantly.

Baron looked really upset on the way back.

He tried so hard to figure out who wanted to kill Terry.

“Mr. Owen, there is one thing you need to know!”

Kris opened his mouth after having hesitated for a while.

Baron frowned, “Go ahead, I told you before, keep me posted!”

Kris said hastily, “Marry Jackson went to the house Terry rent at that day.”

“Marry Jackson!”

Baron was startled.

Until now, this woman came to his mind.

However, there was no reason for her to kill Terry.

Besides Marry, Baron also thought of Sherry. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Terry kept trying to get a divorce with Sherry after quitting gambling.

But somehow, Sherry just didn’t agree.

And Terry used the excuse of divorce to force her to leave the Peak Hotel and to confess that she

secretly gave money to the Zouch family.

Baron always had a feeling that there was a secret between this couple.

All of sudden, he was pulled out from the contemplation by his phone’s ringtone, it was Fay calling in.

Baron answered it instantly, and Fay said, “Mr. Owen, I suddenly remember, it was noontime before my

husband left home that day, he got a phone call, and it was a woman who called him.”
